I

I realise this is a somewhat pedantic question, but:

when you got the new status, was the review date exactly six months from that date (i.e. 10th March) or the end of the the sixth month (i.e. end of March)?

Matched on 7th Sep 2018 expire 31th March 2019 .

Look like you can gain extra month if waiting till early October but in my opinion just get in quick as we not sure when they will end the offer

Got mine and mr k_sheeps approved, literally just the email with account details, no story about how much we fly to NZ etc.

Will actually get 110SC on our Thai flight already booked and paid for. I'll let mine slide but might get him to do some flying to maintain it, that way we will have OW and *A gold in the house.

Anyone knows how tier expiry works for AirNZ?

If we status match in Sep 18, it'll end in Mar 19, but if we successfully maintain, will it end in Sep 19 or a year more like Qantas?

If I apply at the start of Oct 18, and if approved will the expiry be the 30th April.

Only reason for me to apply is for lounge access in WLG during April

I applied 11/9/18. Apart form an automatic response, no biscuit. Applied as QP. But, except for travel on other Star Alliance operators, will it give Qantas fliers any added benefit after 28 October 2018?

I'm hoping that QG and above will have access to Air NZ lounges after 28 October.

Yep

Officially the deal is just limited to lounge access. Qantas Gold and above will get lounge access to NZ domestic lounge prior to NZ operated QF coded services along with one guest. That is where the perks end.

Air NZ Gold on their own services get:
Lounge Access (Same as the QF deal but no need to be traveling on a QF codeshare NZ operated service).
Priority Boarding, Baggage, Check-In
Frequent Flyer Seating - Free exit rows and upfront extra legroom seating.
An additional checked bag (1x 23kg) except when traveling on a seat only ticket.
An additional carry on bag (2x 7kg carry on allowance).
and Fast Bag (take your own checked luggage to the plane and collect it as you walk off on regional flights).

As Qantas puts it
"From 28 October 2018, as a Gold Qantas Frequent Flyer, when you travel on an onward New Zealand domestic flight operated by Air New Zealand with a Qantas (QF) flight number, be sure to have your boarding pass or ticket and Qantas Frequent Flyer membership card with you to receive:
Lounge Access

  • Access for you and one guest travelling together (children over the age of two are counted as a guest) to Air New Zealand Domestic and Regional lounges in Auckland, Christchurch, Wellington, Hamilton, Tauranga, New Plymouth, Napier, Palmerston North, Nelson, Queenstown, Dunedin and Invercargill."

What will be interesting is if I'm booked on a QF codeshare NZ operated flight. Perks like extra baggage and lounge access remain to be seen.

Thanks henrus. Does that mean if travelling only domestic Air NZ, it needs to be a QF coded flight and will I be able to book a QF coded flight for domestic travel?

You can only book QF codeshare NZ operated domestic flight if it's done with a QF international flight in the same booking.

It's not possible to just book a standalone QF codeshare flight operated by NZ domestically within NZ. So as a QF Gold/Platinum you won't get lounge access in New Zealand unless connecting to/from a same day flight operated by Qantas international.

Thanks. Sometimes fly WLG-AKL-BNE so may work there. Keep my fingers crossed for the status match.

Applied 10/9 with Qantas WP. Provided full year account statement which included two paid QF J flights across the Tasman. Only received automated response... thought I'd be right up their alley. o_O

Has anyone been denied yet?

Haven't heard of anyone being denied yet but who you match with seems to depend on the speed.

VA Plat seems to be almost instant as does Gold. (Probably cause they still have access to the VA system and can verify status that way).

They say 3 business days so applying on 10/9 should have heard by now. Perhaps demand was so great they are having trouble process the applications.

Our travel Agent is Tandem, owned by Air NZ, so should have my details. At one point Tandem asked what it would take for me to travel Air NZ. I said a year Koru Club. Nothing happened.

VA Gold here, haven't heard back, it's been 6 working days.

Odd. Everyone I know who had VA status has got a response quickly (about 6 people). Do you do much trans Tasman travel?
