Status run idea to take advantage of the Double Status Credits promotion

I have booked the following trip to Fiji:

BNE-MEL 60SC
MEL-SYD 40SC
SYD-NAN 80SC
NAN-SYD 80SC
SYD-MEL 40SC
MEL-BNE 60SC

All up $1290 for 360SC. With double SC this comes to 720SC. Hotel was $90 for one night, but is right near NAN airport.

I've also purchased a return red-e-deal PER-BNE, costing me $540, but getting me 80SC with double SC promotion.

So all up:

Earn - 800SC
Cost - 1920

Resulting in $2.40 per SC. Not bad at all.

I am also flying to Sydney for business purposes at the end of June - might do another trip then which will mean I won't incur costs for PER-BNE.

Thanks "Oneworldplus2" for your help, and all the advice guys. ;)

I'm passing on all the help to Markis10 as he help me a lot with this one. A very good find and l can't thank him enough!

If this trip is done twice (with the QF PROMO), QF WP will be achieved. So, QF WP for around $2500 (if based in BNE). This has got to be one of the cheapest OW EMERALD runs ever. What's the cheapest anyone has ever seen someone in the AA FFP achieve top tier??? Even with the recent AAdvantage Double EQM/EPM promo they had last year???

Happy Travels.

Just after my membership resets, I am undertaking this run x2.

Two full years as a WP + 1 as a Gold after (presuming I don't reach the 1200SCs for renewal) at $2500ish is great value!

Normally I wouldn't chase status in this manner, but a new job sees me going O/S to the EU/US every month (on average) in Y. Should be worth it IMO!

Just dont leave it to the last week in June, thanks to school hols and probably the odd AFF member there are no cheap fares left from 23rd onwards.

After the 23rd the fare jumps to $1600+ which is a 33% increase. Still cheap per SC but it certainly takes the shine off.

Its only for the school holidays though, its back to normal for the rest of the year, or if you book the BNE-MEL-SYD legs before June 30 and the SYD-NAN leg after July 15, interestingly I had Qantas ring me up last night and tell me I could not have two bookings doing the BNE-MEL-SYD legs on the same day despite one being AM and one being PM based flights, the SYD-NAN legs were in March and Feb 2011, so there was no overlap or duplicate flight numbers. It annoyed me as I could not understand the reasoning, but given QF are not limiting their J special to the VA dates I suppose we have to take the good with the bad.

Hi,
I am doing the following for work next week:
MEL-SYD-SIN-BOM-SIN-CGK-SIN-SYD-MEL all in J. Will earn 550SC plus double promotion will get me 1100 SC in one week trip. Not bad SC earn but the cost of the total fare was $7200 so not good on a earn per dollar rate.

I have to do another MEL-SYD-BOM-SIN-SYD-MEL the week after I return which will get me another 1040 SC. So I will earn 2140SC in the next 4 weeks. Now I just need to change my JQ * class flight in late June to QF and earn another 640SC for that trip instead of the 240SC i would have earned. Either way I will achieve LTG by ewnd of June, once again I am thankign QF for the double credits. I am a loyal QF customer and this is like the birthday present for that loyalty.

I'm also interested in doing this run, however I cannot replicate your pricing. Did you book all the segments when they were on special ??

Use the multi-stop tool, with four segments:

BNE-MEL
MEL-SYD-NAN
NAN-SYD-MEL
MEL-BNE

Certain legs are quite expensive - I needed to check each leg individually first.

I don't think any of these were "specials".

J flights to NAN at $649 are a special, they book into D class, have limited seats but at this stage are not date limited, as mentioned earlier in the thread end of June there is no D availability so those prices are not coming through when the D bucket sells out.

Whilst I'm on the Double SC promo, alas I won't be able to use this excellent fare to NAN :( - nor will I have any Intl flights before 30 June.

I'll just have to do it the domestic routing way ...like my 2 ADL trips which have been BNE/ADL/SYD/BNE and BNE/MEL/ADL/BNE. Thankfully, I've been able to use the double flight route on two of the 4 legs with good effect.

Time to organise a BNE/ADL/PER/ADL/BNE or for end June, which will help.

Would love to even be able to do a 24 hour cheap (red e-deal) run, as being Plat next year would be nice again..I miss it . Maybe I'll be able to get away with that from Mrs LW.

Who said you need to take any international flghts during the double SC period, the fare does permit a stopover at the Australian gateway for as long as the ticket is valid ;)

Nobody, but I would still need to go to the International port within the next year and the only International trip I have in the planning stage is using AA points, so no help.

Hi Guys,

I've been watching my status points grow over last weeks thru May .....
MEL/LHR/MEL, MEL/KUL/DXB/KUL/MEL, MEL/HKG/MEL
But a little concerned as have just noticed a little tilda (~) adjacent to my Status Points on my QF Account Activity Statement.

Noticed the DOUBLE STATUS CREDITS PROMOTION status points don't have this.
Hmmm ...

Down the bottom of page there is a legend which indicates that the ~ ".... eligible flight count towards status attain / retain."

Does this mean the DOUBLE STATUS CREDITS PROMOTION status points (which don't have tilda?) don't count to status ???

Sounds wierd - what else can you do with them ??

- Any one else noticed this?

...D

That refers to the flights. you must fly 4 sectors on QF metal to attain/regain status. so this is why the status bonus doesn't show the ~.

DavidH,

Welcome to AFF.

Put simply you need 4 ~ in your membership year to retain your status level. Once you have that minimum it does not matter whether they are there or not.

Hi Guys

Can someone please clarify the different codes....D....J....etc. What is main benefit of different Status levels ??
Thanks
