Status run idea to take advantage of the Double Status Credits promotion

thx heaps guys - those suggestions helped. i think i was making the mistake of trying to use the international multi-city build tool (to acccomodate NAN), but no matter what - even after selecting flights and then trying to 'revise' dates back/forward having seen that they would not clash (ie, no PM flights before AM, etc) - it still came up 'error - no more than two sectors per day' ... going straight into international return flight, and then selecting suggested fares-builds that the system offered per your suggestions worked a treat ... and, even better to get the bne/melb/syd/nan run, using the 'map' version of the multitool that then gave me more suggetsionns for different types of fares/structures.

thx again ~

hmm how can you make it do more than 2 sectors in a day!! it keeps blocking me

I believe you can only do two on the initial screen, but you can adjust the later flights dates after you've locked in the first flights (before proceeding to booking).

Put the other flights for days in advance, then when selecting the flights use the tabs to go back in time.
I don't think this feature is available on the international multi-city tool.

Not that anyone would need more than 1-2 Qantas international sectors in a day but more than 2 domestic sectors may be required on the same day as part of an international itinerary.

I'm pretty sure the trick, as Serfty mentioned, is to only ask for 1 "sector", i.e. CBR-HBA or BNE-NAN, but then select the flight option with multiple sectors, i.e. BNE-MEL-NAN. Not that it can be done of the international multi city tool, but then you shouldn't need to use that.

Through routing. e.g. Pick SYD-HBA as a "sector" and you'll be offered direct flights as well as SYD-xMEL-HBA.

If you have 72,000 points and depart from Perth you can do a PER-MEL-SYD-ASP-SYD-MEL-PER (SYD and MEL can be swapped around) JASA and receive 800SC with the double promotion. As mentioned it will cost 72,000 point and around $750 (based on the lowest JASA points fare) and you earn your 800SC and 16,000 FF points (if Platinum).

I've done this trip earlier this year but had a 3 day break in ASP but it can be done in one day...leave Perth at midnight and return at 10pm.

trouble is you'll probably gain 5kg with all the J class food :)

Been looking at the some of you you did BNE-MEL-SYD-NAN-SYD-MEL-BNE and i have been searching for it in multi stop by doing
BNE-MEL, MEL-NAN, NAN - MEL and MEL-BNE so it doesnt do the sectors error however on the return journey every time it always wants 1 day to be spent in Melbourne saying no flights available (even though there is still plenty of time in the day and flights available). Is this the system trying to block the status run?

Also when i change it and do MEL-BNE-SYD-NAN-SYD-BNE-MEL it costs a hell of a lot more? ANy reason for this? i live in mel so this is preferred. however could always add an additional mel-bne economy lol

ANy ideas?

Grab a crash 8 to TSV and do a run to ADL or DRW as a JASA, the DRW option would require an overnight in TSV. If you have the points, the TSV-DRW run can be done in one day for 48K + $220 cash, nets 560 SCs if your on the promo. Do it on a Thursday and Sunday and you have the added penalty of a Skybed LOL.

What is the points cost for each sector? I can't get this to come up for that amount of points...

The trick is to not search for each sector individually. Search for PER-ASP and then pick the connecting flight options. Or you might need to break it down a bit, like PER-SYD-ASP but still look for the connecting options.

Have you read the excellent sticky on how to book a JASA? If not, do so.

It's there ... sarlatcycles is referring to the minimum number of points required.

Couple I have found last minute for this weekend.

Bne>Mel>Bne 48,000 points and $165 and 120 SC (doubled to 240)
Bne>Syd> Adl 36,000 points and $110 - get a disc y flight back. 115 SC (db to 230)

Just searched my email files and found the promo offer.

So i can use 48,000 points plus cash to get the full monty of J points?

Using above suggestion I'd only like to be away one night, not been able to find a way to do this? (looks like 2 or 3 nights).

I guess have to use two x two sectors if not done in this year?, or could I just do say CNS / Perth ret in J plus points?.

Sky bed would be nice but do they have them on any of the sectors recommended?

Also been trying as a lowly bronze to book someJ seats using points Syd or Bris to Lax return 6 months out in J for one, but find its more like 12 months, if I achieve gold will this better my chances?.

anyone please to above.

since located this one:

Long sectors A330 might have flat beds?.

only one overnight stay in Perth and weekend too.

Points 72K pay $302.

Gain Status Points 320 x 2 = 720

Correct me if I'm wrong.

The CNS flights used to be on 767 or 737s IIRC, so no Skybeds as far as I know.
