Status run idea to take advantage of the Double Status Credits promotion

You need to read the terms and conditions of the offer, last year it was up to 6 weeks, and it seemed they ran a batch on Tuesdays to scan for such activity, might be different this year though.

I see standard points flyer and status points have been already been awarded from past three days flights, no sign of the bonus points?.

How long do these take to appear?

Mine took a couple of days to post the doubles

Just a quick question if this has been answered you can all shoot me ;) but does anyone know what the criteria is to be invited in for the promo?

It is a targeted one whether that be a scatter gun or more likely, something more criteria based as you intimate, though this criteria I do not think is known outside of QF.

So it's not abnormal to get the regular then later the bonus points would arrive?.

Thats exactly how my last revenue flights happened. Regular ones came through as normal next day then two days later doubles. For my SC run yesterday, i got my regular SC through today and expect doubles around tuesday/wed.

havent figured out /decided to go for WP yet, but still dreaming (literally had a dream about it last night, now thats bad!!) Way I see it, I would have next to no chance with WP normally. I do 40-50 domestic Y flights mainly bne-syd. 3/4 of these on QF. The benefits i see if i did get WP then for a year I'd have access to the J Lounge and better seating and WP benefits for OS travel this next year. I've experienced the J lounges once and was impressed, dont really know if the seating thing makes a dig difference. I understand that it comes down to personal preference, but any commets appreciated.

From a domestic perspective, there is little in it between gold and platinum, IMO. The mystery of the domestic J lounge is the sliding door/separate entrance/separate lounge (MEL/BNE/SYD), which disappears as soon as you walk in - and realise it's just the QP with a different name - (and gets as crowded at times).

It's nice to have, but gold would suffice. I reiterate the experience of others; internationally there is greater differentiation, in amenity and experience.

Thanks, just found it odd that NB's were getting in addition to SG's and PS's. Im just far enough from SG that a promo like this would of taken me pretty close with then a quickie down to CBR pushing me over before my QP membership comes up for renewal at EOM. I would of been tempted to go for WP even. Oh well you win some you loose some. Just looks like I will be going to AKL for a weekend on LN after all lol.

I beg to differ, while SG has been improved, there is still a big difference between it and WP, for one the 100% points bonus on the longer flights is great, and the service levels are there as well as the upgrades, and dont forget WPs get to check in two kitchen sinks when in Y .

Has anyone successfully gotten the double status credits from a JASA yet?

My JASAs have been posting without points / SCs (known problem) and even after reporting to QFF there's no sign of the double SCs posting...

Thanks for the info, it just seemed strange to me that one lot appeared and the bonus points didn't, I thought they would both arrive at same time.

After my status run I've now jumped from bronze to silver, once I receive the bonus will be SG for first time, plus have at least 2 OS trips and 2 domestic in my next year, so SG will continue on.

On the status run one thing was hilarious, the plane to DRW was same one returning, half the crew left in DRW, the crew returning saw me enter again, later they came and one asked what gives?, I said "don't like Darwin so decided to go home!".

Technicallty it can be up to 6 weeks but of the 7 qualifying flights I have taken since the deal, I have seen 6 of the double SC's come through. My flight from Friday last week has not come through yet but as it was the last possible Syd-Mel flight I just assume it will come through in the next day or so.

Once that comes in then it would be 7/7 of my expecded double SC's.

I was a little worried initially as for the first two weeks I saw nothing and then I saw one on the 25 May and then a the rest in a regular dribble after that. Now that it has caught up with me, the double SCs seem to be added about two working days after the initial flight is credited to me.

The annoying thing is that the description does not state which double SC those points were awarded to. EG:

"DOUBLE STATUS CREDITS PROMOTION 03JUN11" was given to me for what I can only assume a flight I took on the 1 June.

Regards
Daniel

Thats not a great use of points, try to look at something BNE-ADL-TSV-ADL-BNE, should be a lot less points to spend.

took me a while, but after reading about routing i now understand what your meant...slow uptake on my part i'm afraid.

Will likely do BNE-TSV-BNE-ADL-BNE-TSV-BNE JASA with overnight in ADL. this should be 360 from my calcs so a little over what I need (340). Question is just with positioning flight. earliest flight out of BNE to TSV gets in at 8:40. TSV to BNE is 9:25. not sure if this is too close? if it is then im kind of stuck as I's prefer not to overnight twice.

another spanner is i might have a work trip scoring at least 20 SC so if i were to really only need 320 before doubles, then is there a better option?

Mine credited last night...Gold now!! woohoo :D:D Will they send me new Gold baggage tags?

Can anyone help with the question above about the connecting flights please?? thx

You will find the BNE TSV flights are the operating equipment for the next trip back, as they are the only QF jets operating into TSV, so a sub for a late flight is not possible, in short, not an issue.

My last status run flight was Sunday last still no sign of bonus points.

OK I've decided that I'm going to go the whole hog and see if I can make at least Gold or possibly Platinum from 0 points while this double status credits offer is on:D (my QFF year has just rolled over and I only managed to make Silver).

I'm going to be in Melbourne to photograph a mate's wedding in late June, so there's 40 points for a return Y.

I've got about 6 days spare that I can do some JASA's out of Melbourne. The only one I've seen ex-Melbourne on here so far is the MEL-SYD-HKG-PER-MEL trip that danih88 posted a couple of pages back for 720 SC's. Does anyone know of some others that will get big point totals?

Can anyone remember which cities those specials were between that Cathay had in J a year or two back that earned huge points? I think that it was about this time of year?

As I have also suggested in the JASA sticky, if you have the points look at spending 96K on the following routing along with $400 or so cash to bring it to the classic award level, you need to get to ADL and a rededeal is the best way given a JASA will cost 20K alone, even with Silver status the whole run is costing a net points cost of 80K:
