All,

Another post for SC run ideas.

I will be 180 SC short of gold by mid Feb (after taking advantage of a return J trip to HK and making use of the double SC promotion) and would subsequently like to achieve Gold so I don't have to renew my QC membership.

My QFF year ends in September - also happy to wait and see if QF come out with any further SC promos but I wouldn't necessarily count on it.

Flights would need to be ex Sydney (preferable domestic, but happy to hear of any interesting/better value international trips). Timing of flights doesn't need to be aligned with expiry of QC membership at this stage.

Appreciate any ideas or directions to similar posts requiring 180 SC.

Cheers

l would leave it for a few months, see if a double SC promo comes out after Easter then plan! In the mean time take out some life insurance to build up the points balance for a JASA.

Thanks markis10 - my new amex plat charge card is arriving this week so 80k point contribution to the JASA ;)

If you have time in HK you can pick up 200SC for a J Status Run for a TPE-MNL return at a cost of about $2.38AUD/SC
- $476AUD total

You'd need to stump up for HKG-TPE return flights (or QF Partner Awards @ 10k each way plus taxes).

Starting from Canberra, a JASA run from CBR - MEL - HBT - SYD - CBR will earn you 180SC's and can be done in one day. Cost is 32,000 points and approx $190. I am making my next run in early Feb for the same reason. :D

That sounds great, as I have the same requirement!

Do you have any suggestions for a Melbourne commencement point?

I'd love to hear some suggestions...

Yeah ... go to CBR ... :p

... seriously, the reason this is a cost effective JSA is mainly geographical combined with CBR not really being a "Hub".

It does not work as well for MEL/SYD/BNE although there may be some reasonable ones out there.

TSV seems to be the hot place in more ways than one for JASAs, with TSV-DRW the best domestic option, TSV ADL second while TSV- NZ can be good value as well, while there is not much to be had ex MEL in terms of value, a quick positioning flight to ADL will give you a run to TSV thats good value and has more than one flight a day so the chances of the cheap award being available increases.

Sounds good. Will have to start looking now!

Thanks for the suggestions.
