So just to clarify ......

This appears to require a Sim. Is that correct?

Does it get posted from the US or did you buy it when you were physically in the US?

Do you use the free service or the $9.99 a month service?

I do not have their sim, just my own telco sim. I started with the free service almost two years ago. They provided me with a phone number. There were some changes to their plans earlier this year. I can’t recall what I’m paying, certainly not monthly, but perhaps it is annually.

Edit: Just had another look. I paid US$7.99 in June this year to lock-in my number for 12 months

TextNow: Call + Text Unlimited
Lock Your Number for 1 Year (Yearly)
$7.99

Your Aussie telco sim or a U.S. telco sim?

TextNow is an app works pretty well. Have a US cell number. I’ve had TextNow for a while and haven’t received any banking texts on it though. I did get the T-mobile sim discussed up thread and it works well.

Well, this caught me by surprise

There is nothing in my personal or financial profile that would generate a rejection.

Anybody else experience this??

It did prompt me to check their Facebook page and I must say the reading wasn't encouraging

Anybody use any other service? Skypax??

Hmmm TextNow looks interesting. Basically $8.49 to lock in that 10 digit phone number for a year. I guess if texts are all you need from US banks and it works, then it comes in handy.

Otherwise, might go for the T-mobile one but only works for unlocked iPhones I think.

In regards to ITIN, is it as simple as contacting Sina B or Daniel Hagen and requesting application for ITIN or do I also need to open a US trading account etc before beginning ITIN process?

Yes contact them and they deal with everything for you. I used Sina B and it was easy. Didn’t need to open anything first.

Daniel Hagen has advised that no investments are needed for the ITIN.

This is very weird. It’s a postal forwarding service not a credit product. Have you opened an account with them before and have outstanding debt to them?

Does anyone know if TextNow allows you to respond to texts? E.g Amex send a text saying reply with yes. Does TextNow do that as Skype etc don’t allow replies.

Nope, nothing. Have an account with Skypax but have never used it. Only have it because I use their UK service

Thanks for the advice. I'll contact one of them this week. Sounds like there's not much difference in price or service.

Amex has not asked me for Yes/No texting. They send digits to my TextNow phone number during the call, which I read back to them for verification.

In case I go for the T-mobile one, it looks like there are prepaid T-mobile SIMs but they only last 30 days on Amazon. I think I'm looking in the wrong place.

Edit: I think I found it. Its ultramobile paygo.
