Strategy to obtain US Amex

Incredible service by Chase. Changed a CSP to a CSR to double dip travel credits for a net $50 profit, called to get new card shipped to Australia, arrived via UPS in less than a week.
So just call the number at the back and tell them you want to change to CSR? Did they run credit check again or any questions? Did you add your Aussie address to your profile and ask them to ship the card to Australia? Thank you

Check your Amex offers.

My understanding is that these will trigger even if flights do not originate in the US.
Find my report back couple pages, I did purchase the ticket in Australia and still got the credit but you need to choose USD (used currency converter) when paying for the ticket.

Yes, call and ask for a product change to the Sapphire Reserve. No credit check for product changes. No questions. You do get read out the terms and conditions of the card/product change, which you need to accept. I put my Australian address as my 'mailing address' in my Chase profile and asked them to ship it to that address. Was not a problem at all. Agent said it could take up to 4 weeks to get to an international address, but came in less than a week via courier.

Can I ask one more question? Do you think the CSR has more values and benefits than the CSP? I got 10% bonus points annually + free fee for AU card + $50 travel credit. Do I get the same benefits with CSP? I read the information that I have to pay for the AU card with CSR. Thanks

My strategy is to product change between the CSP & CSR on an annual basis to get both cards for free.

Year 1: CSP = sign up bonus + $50 hotel credit in Year 1 + $50 hotel credit in Year 2 - $95 annual fee in Year 1 ($5 profit + sign up bonus)
Year 2: Product change to CSR = $300 travel credit in Year 2 + $300 travel credit in Year 3 - $550 annual fee in Year 2 ($50 profit)
Year 3: Product change to CSP = $50 hotel credit in Year 3 + $50 hotel credit in Year 4 - $95 annual fee in Year 3 ($5 profit)
Year 4: Product change to CSR = $300 travel credit in Year 4 + $300 travel credit in Year 5 - $550 annual fee in Year 4 ($50 profit)
Year 5: Product change to Freedom with Ultimate Rewards, wait 4 days, apply for CSP or CSR again for new sign up bonus

You can double dip every Chase annual credit by using the annual credit as soon as it resets and product changing within 30 days of the next annual fee posting.

The main downside is loss of free AU when on the CSR, but that doesn't bother me as my partner is doing the same thing with their CSP/CSR.

You are genius, thank you. I’ll call them to do the product change in a few days.

She told me they do not accept any online banks and only accept banks that have branches you can attend in person.

I told her that the person I spoke with two days ago said the only issue was that the statement needed to be at least 30 days and otherwise was fine which differed to the advice she was now providing.

I also mentioned that I was aware of others who had recently completed global transfers with their Wise account as proof of address and it was sufficient.

Overall this is turning to more hassle then it's likely worth!
How did you go with submitting your Wise 30 day statement using US address?

Does that mean this churning does not impact your SUB wait of 48 months for the CSP/CSR card

This is not churning, but rather product changing, which doesn't affect your 5/24 status, credit file or CSP/CSR SUB eligibility.

For the CSP/CSR eligibility, the rule is 48 months since you got your last CSP/CSR SUB. This doesn't affect that.

Hi guys, I got approved for my amex Hilton aspire card (GT) a few days ago, I found out the fedex tacking info do not have my MYUS suite number, but during my card application, I am sure I put my suite number on it. My parcel was delivered at MYUS 2 days ago, cannot see anything on my suite. I also contacted the rep and provided my Fedex tracking number, but the rep ask for the invoice.
what should I do ? thx

Hi all - I'm considering the process to apply for a US AmEx; I like the look of the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant, even with the hefty fee. Thanks for all the great detail in the thread thus far; I just wanted to ask a couple of additional things to see what bearing they might have.

My banking for the most part is with HSBC Premier. I've held a personal AmEx card previously, but it's been many years since I cancelled it. I now have only a Corporate AmEx charge card. From the terms, I know I would need to have an Aussie AmEx [personal] card for at least 3 months before I can look at a GT application, but is there any difference in terms of which AU card and what limit it carries? I'd rather go fee free, with the lowest limit offered (no real plans to use the AU card), but worried it might not play well with what I'm planning.

And then on account use/history for the AU AmEx and Wise U.S. account - does there need to be actual ongoing use in both of these before a GT application would be considered, or is a valid statement for the period(s) requested enough, regardless of activity within? Again, I'd rather not need to use the local AmEx, and have no need for the wise account unless & until I have the U.S. AmEx. Even after I have the U.S. card, I might have better options with HSBC to pay the account monthly; not sure yet on that. Others may know?

Cheers,
Matt.

After 10 days, AMEX will send a replacement card if you ask them. Just provide your Oz address if that suits.

thanks mate! Will applying for a replacement card affect the amex welcome offer (
Earn 150,000 Hilton Honors Bonus Points after you spend $4,000 in purchases on the Card within your first 3 months of Card Membership) ?

Nah - these things are based on the account, not the specific card number. You’d be fine to get a replacement.

did you get asked to submit US tax return after application submission? If so, how'd you get around that?

Just found out MYUS open every parcels they received, what if a bad staff write down my amex card number and cvv? Is there a risk of card fraud? Do I need to get a replacement card? thx

they asked. But since its a gt, we only need to submit a bank statement or bill to verify address. give the gt team a call and they will help u.
yeah . I just wondered what you submitted as verification of address. Because many have gone the Wise account statement route (because Wise allows you to change your address on file) but last week someone mentioned that Amex wouldn't accept their Wise statement because it's a digital bank.

I submitted my VELO bank statement.

Hi All,
So I was approved for my first US Amex card (Marriott Brilliant) through GT 3 weeks ago, have already met the MSR and paid back my debts. I am now keen to get my second US Amex card through GT also, I'm thinking I'll go the Hilton Surpass card (the middle Hilton Amex card) before the limited time offer ends on 26th this month.
However, do you think it would be too soon to get my second US Amex after getting my first just 3 weeks ago?
