Strategy to obtain US Amex

I've HSBC premier US checking account open for 3+months.
Are you suggesting I can get premier CC without US credit history or ITIN? My ITIN application is currently under process.
I'm also thinking of getting the HSBC Star Alliance card in AU to get SA Gold. Hope that doesn't have any impact.

Ask your premiere RM or team to assist with aplication .
hsbc premiere teams are not privy to your banking details in another country .

I ended up getting HSBC Expat which is HSBC UK in the Channel Islands. Got HSBC UK CC that way - had UK Premier but the rule was nbo CC for foreigners but Expat can do it. Can't see it or pay it via Expat Internet banking - interested in how to do it as my query to Expat went unanswered.

I agree, ther CC is pretty average and has 3% currency conversion.

Hi, yes, I actually have the Premier Elite Mastercard via the Expat route in CIIoM too.

But I closed the account ....... and kept the card.

And then I opened a normal UK bank account via the Premier facility. I tried to get a local credit card really just to 'tidy things up'

I can view my local UK account, my local Australian account and my credit card account all in the same online banking window. Obviously you have to sign in to the particular one that you want to transact in.

I have iPhone apps for all three accounts

I pay my Mastercard directly from Wise but I have paid it from my UK Premier account once or twice

In order to get hotel status through US Amex: did you update your address in your Bonvoy and Hilton accounts for them to match your US address in your Amex account?

Did you do the same for Avis, Hertz, etc?

For most of those I use my Australian Platinum card

So I already had Hilton Gold.

When I got the US Hilton Aspire card the upgrade was almost immediate and I did not change my address to match my US Amex address. Had the Aspire for about 18mths & still haven’t changed my address & everything works fine.

Curiously I also have the UK BA Amex and that wouldn’t transfer Avios until my Amex & BA Exec Club accounts addresses matched

Bonvoy Amex.

For the hotel/airline-issued cards, you usually input your account number in the application and your status automatically updates upon approval of the card. No need for addresses to match.

Transfers from MR/UR to hotels/airlines can be a bit more tricky, depending on what data they require to match to transfer.

I've never updated my address. BA seems to be the one I've had issues with, but I just transfer to Aer Lingus then transfer to BA.

Pretty much no need to edit your address on your Hilton or Marriott accounts, the points transfer and the status updates would work fine.

Although what it could mean is that you won't be getting any HGV Timeshare email offers so if a good one comes up like 150k HH + 3 nights you have to call them. But that is a separate, complicated thing that is the Timeshare world...

Applied for the delta gold biz card after receiving bbp Amex . Directed me to log into my bank account through yodee portal to check transaction history . Tried my hsbc account a few times unsuccessfully . Does anyone have experience with the same ? Am I likely to be successful considering that I don’t have any biz transaction and all transactions are to pay off my US cards ?

If I remember correctly, I was asked to do the same with my last Biz Plat. Ended up not working with my Cap 1 account. Called Amex and all they actually wanted was proof of ID in the end.

I got an email later with the same log in Option or to submit 3 bank statement . I wonder if they will verify business revenue through same .

Actually I got declined . Most likely because my bank stats don’t match biz income I mentioned .
Also through link I could see application details and outcomes for Amex cards I applied for since mid last year .

Yes you can get the HSBC US Premier Credit card without ITIN. I have got it. They have an international credit option. I got the 50K points as well. This is useful for travel with no foreign exchange fee and can be used where AMEX is not accepted.

Can you explain this a bit more? I have a HSBC Premier account in Australia. How do I go about applying for the HSBC US Premier card?

Call HSBC International Banking Center (IBC) and ask them to establish a U.S. bank account with HSBC US on the strength of your AU Premier status - usually need to make an ‘appointment’ for IBC to call you to do this.

Once US account is established, you ask your new US RM to facilitate setup of the Premier MasterCard.

Was pretty straightforward when u did it a few years ago. Not sure if it’s changed with HSBC selling their retail operations in the US. YMMV.

Today i was very happy to receive my ITIN no. (I used SH Studio from Fiverr website)
They messaged me overnight with the good news.
I applied for the ITIN with them on Dec 9th 2022. So, the entire process took about 12 weeks.
