Strategy to obtain US Amex

Thinking of applying for my first ink biz card . Have had 3 chase personal cards including one currently open . Can I apply for it to be sent directly to oz or do I need to have it delivered to my us mailing address then call and ask chase to courier to oz ?is that safe ?

Have you had other Chase cards sent here? I usually call right after approval and ask them to sent it to my Aussie address.

Yes but the last was 18 months ago so I don’t remember exact process . Do you apply using your us address then ask them to redirect here ? Or cancel proevuosly dispatched card and send fresh card here ?

If you get in quick enough (ie call right after approval), they might send the card directly to your Australian address. But it is more likely they'll still send one to your US address and what you get in Australia is a duplicate.

Edit: If your US address isn't a suitable one to receive cards, they should be able to cancel any sent to your US address and generate a new set of cards to be sent to you in Australia.

Has anyone ever been able to successfully purchase US gift cards online? I tried last month when Costo was selling discounted Uber cards and then again last night with an app called Raise. I used an US card with my US billing address but they always cancel my purchase and even lock my account…

How would they know you are not resident on the us ?

I've managed to get past this point with C1 as my new address wasn't on their CMRA dtatbase (Sarasota is unfortunately so I've had to move).

CX1 sent me an email with the dollowing link on Friday AEST:

I heard nothing after uploading my passport as I don't have a US state issued drivers' license or ID card. I just called them up and they were adamant (I also spoke with a supervisor) that a state issued ID card is fine in place of a drivers' license and they would accept nothing else. A passport wouldn't cut mustard at all.

For those who've gotten to "yes" with C1, how did you get past this point? What did you manage to show as ID which was accepted?

TIA for your DPs. I really want the Venture card especially now they've done the hard pull on my credit file. It's a good broad-brush CC at 2ppUSD (1.3 points/AUD) which I'm sure I can make my general-purpose Visa card.
Sounds like I need to get a State of NY issued ID card. I'm going there in January so will need to wait until I get it then and try once again. 3rd time's a charm they say - I hope it rings true.

I'm posting this more as information to anyone else that runs up against this. Again, several forum members have posted they have got to "yes" with C1 - interested if I can overcome this obstacle or will just need to thank my lucky stars assuming I can make an appointment for when I'm in the US.

Going through the requirements on the checklist:
Using my AU Passport and US Bank statement with my address showing, I can get this issued and should be ok to try C1 again.

Happy to be directed to another way to do this.

Very invested in the outcomes here - venture x card is the best for my business by far. Shame it seems way harder to get than others.

Can a non resident alien apply for this ID card? Would be interesting if you need a NYC address or not?

Sounds like they want you in the office to apply and you must make an appointment. I can’t make appointments that far out in time so will be interesting. Things we do for our hobby.

Do report back with your experience 😁 ( Isn't January freezing in NYC though? 🥶)

Depending on the retailer, you might need a seasoned account (ie an account that has bought physically delivered items before). And you'll need to use a US IP, possibly one that doesn't belong to a major VPN provider. If you want the best discounts on gift cards, Pepper is what you want to look into.

Can wd use an out of state address?
I reckon we can but they still will likely ask for the ID. This is my second application with C1. The last time, I didn’t get very far as my address in Florida was flagged as CMRA. Worked fine with Amex though I think that’s as it wasn’t flagged as such previously. There are reports on this thread that it is now for new applications. YMMV

Yes, it will likely be freezing. I tend to go in their summer but going in their winter this time so it’s a long time away.

Sorry my question is so dumb that it isn't making sense.

Since we need state ID for Cap1, we might get an IDNY card. But can we use an address not in NY for an IDNY card? I can't imagine that would make very much sense to anyone, if we ever used the card most people would get very confused.
