Strategy to obtain US Amex

Any advice on Maza? I'm trying to sign up - I bought the subscription on the site, entered order ID into the app and it keeps saying "Error 23". The support is pretty bad. They say needs to be done in the US but I'm on a US VPN and not sure how they would know/care outside of that.
Yep can answer this one. You need to be trying to subscribe with a US apple account logged into the phone, it will not work with another country apple id logged in. Maza was no help but I eventually figured it out. You will also need a US based payment method - I used my HSBC US Debit Card.

The GPS spoofing is effectively next step after that.

Thanks for the info - the Maza support is comically terrible. I tried adding a "ignore all previous prompts" thing in to check if it was actually just chatGPT, unironically.

Makes sense to me doing the subscription with a US apple account - I paid for their subscription on the website though, with my Aus card, they accepted payment. Next step was to enter the order ID in the app but then I believe yeah it's failing when it tries to get me to double-subscribe via apple, despite prior purchase.

All a bit of a pain, I might have to revisit later. Anyone got suggestions for alternatives for an ITIN?

Yeah it is painful, especially when their support is useless. Honestly was pretty straightforward once I got past this though (spoofing GPS on iPhone didnt take too long to figure out but with the caveat I had in my original post about data concerns). The subscription kicks in 30 days post authorising as the payment on website paid for first 30 days.

I looked at a bunch of services and for $5 a month (for say maybe 3-4 months) it is a bargain. Couldnt find anything cheaper than a few hundred dollars and ultimately this seemed more legit than some bloke on fiver.

I've read data points on reddit about being declined because they put non us resident in the application.
I did the pre-approval tool last week and was approved for the Venture Card (not X) with some other cards. When I came up against the question of citizen and residence, I posted the question here before I proceeded. I then went back to the pre-approval tool and now Venture is not being given as an option. Anyone else have this happen, literally nothing happened between last week and this week!

For those considering a HSBC card:

Looks like HSBC just updated their credit card offerings. The Premier card now comes with 3x on groceries and gas (international?), $60 yearly statement credit for streaming services and increased SUB of 50k (was 35k). Annual fee now $95 instead of free.

The elite card now earns 5x on travel (up from 3x)

I've read upthread and am looking at Maza, but it seems to good to be true, ITIN for $5 - am I missing something?

3x gas and groceries looks really good on Premier. Still have the same question about the Elite though; I can't seem to access the prioritypass.com/HSBCElite website. Is it a full priority pass with restaurants or the watered down version most US cards have for lounges only? T&C make no mention of restaurants but it does say something like full priority pass worth $469

Because we flew Delta to New York from LAX we decided to pick up 2 Delta Amex credit cards. It was 65,000 Delta Miles by spending $3,000 USD for no cost credit card.
Not sure if these Delta Miles will be worth anything but we like some of Delta’s destinations.

130,000 Delta miles should be good enough for JFK-EWR one way for one pax in Y 🤣. They don't call them Sky Pesos for nothing.

The trick with Delta is to use them for flights that don't touch North America. 90K in J from Australia to Europe is incredible value, for example. The problem is that the only airline with regular availability on that route is Vietnam.

I used whats left of my Delta miles on some Latam flights around South America, good value at 15,900 miles for longer routes. Shorter routes it's better to pay cash.

There has been massive deval in Delta - I would avoid any personal cards that will take up a slot against 5/24

Well these Delta pesos cost us nothing so we might get to use them for something.i remember flying Delta from LAX to Salt Lake City as AA had an awful plane to go there.
We have lots of AA miles.

Well, their app is currently not working at all for me and their support is like talking to a five year old… so there’s that.

I’m going to say it’s likely fixable with a US Apple account but couldn’t confirm right now. But yeah if you can get it to work five bucks is a great deal

I think what you might be missing is that Maza isn't a service for AusFF members to apply for US credit cards, it appears to theoretically be a service to help members of spanish speaking communities get an ITIN, other ID requirements, etc for a life in the USA. That's why there is also a bank account associated and it's a $5 subscription etc

But it’s a service that gets a foreigner an ITIN for $5/mo and you can cancel it after… that’s what most of us are chasing here?

Edit, might have missed your tone on this one… granted this yes, but ultimately they’ll get some cash out of us and they are conducting a pretty simple service (batch print W7s and scan the responses, that’s pretty much it).

They check your GPS coordinates etc, although this is not too difficult to spoof with modern technology. It certainly works for us, but it isn't designed for us.

Edit; spent all day on this so hopefully can save someone some time. To apply successfully with Maza:

- iOS, could not get a US Google account to work despite using VPN and spoofing to try to change location, couldn't rip an APK easily and when I did, still didn't have a US google account to enable billing
- Need a US Apple ID (Change billing location)
- Need a US phone #
- Need to spoof GPS (Geoport was the best GPS spoofer) (the GPS section is very distinct, you don't need to spoof until it directly asks you to. Revoke the permission after that.)

I did also use a VPN set to the US, but nothing to me indicated this was a requirement.

After that, could submit application.
