Strategy to obtain US Amex

I have family in the USA so I use their address, never used a forwarding address etc.

My family has sent through the documents via fax for me so will keep you guys posted on how I go.

Just an FYI that they tried calling me a day after I submitted application and I missed the call and no voice mail was left. They then denied the application 24 hours later and only re-activated it once I called and spoke to someone in 'fraud' who asked me to fax the documents.

Fingers crossed.

Has anyone had an ITIN via Maza since they ceased? I’m at 8 weeks now which i know is under the max they quote - but their website doesn’t even work now so a bit worried it won’t come through….

I applied for a Barclays Hawaiian card (70k miles) and they have asked me to fax Bank statement and Passport. Anyone use any online service that is reliable to fax?

Barclays now accepts ITIN which is how I was able to apply

DP for using the $20 a month flexible business credit on the Amex Biz Gold card - I was able to use it at Staples by purchasing an Airbnb gift card online.

I read up a bit here and on Reddit / Flyertalk and found that they often place the order on hold to prevent fraud and sometimes can't verify you online so they ask you to come into the store to purchase the gift card.

I created an account on Staples using a VPN (US location) and entered my US number and address, and a few days later I logged in and purchased a $25 Airbnb gift card without a VPN (thought I'd do it this way so if they asked me to go into a store I would say I'm travelling overseas and want to use my Amex monthly credit).

I got the "your order is on hold" email the next day and in the email it said they needed more information to process my order and to call them, so I called up expecting a lot of verification questions but they just asked for my name and email address and I was then told it was approved and I should receive the voucher via email soon - it arrived about an hour later!

Statement credit of $20 posted. Hopefully the order next month with Staples just goes through now that I'm "verified", I will provide an update when I do it next month.

Might be just luck that I managed to get it working this way or if the above trick will actually work for most but thought I'd share anyway.

Can I ask, is your address a mail forwarder or a real one? If it is a real one, is it someone with the same last name as you?

Has anyone opened an individual HSBC account and then subsequently a joint with your partner?
I've accidently gone through the individual pathway so now have a premier account but really need a joint as it's my wife with the current Amex.

Can i ask if you just opened a new account in online banking and did the premier benefits extend to your partner?

I have opened a joint and individual for this reason but am still serving the 6 month sentence - not sure how easy it will be to add your partner without serving the 6 months - maybe a good customer service rep can speed it up

i was a new customer, I applied for both at the same time. I assume i receive the benefits straight away. Is there any way to tell?

edit: just looked in the mobile app and if i click on the little man in the top right corner it shows my name and HSBC Premier so i'm pretty sure i've been onboarded straight to premier.

I did the same
I applied two months ago as a solo for Premier
Then a few weeks later applied as Joint under Premier
It came up as Premier on my app as did my wife's (She got a Premier debit card and I got a normal debit card so maybe she is on list but I am not)

I put through 100K in and out to try and show I am planning on reaching the requirements
I applied for a US bank account via US website and got asked for a reason - I stated was Premier status and they came back saying I wasn't on their database as Premier

Others have mentioned that when reach Premier status you get a letter notifying you - I am assuming that puts you on the database - and then you are good to go to apply

Has anyone applied for HSBC in last 12 months and got immediate status recognition as Premier?

Just applied for a CSP, the generic email I got didn’t provide a reference number and it didn’t last time. Anyone had this issue? Last time I called they needed an SSN or reference number to pull my application, otherwise they couldn’t help.

Any recent DP relating to Amex Biz Gold used to buy GC at Coles or WW during SUB period? I remembered reading upthread they can't check L3 info purchase in Australia. But need more recent DP if ok to buy GC during working SUB period PLEASE. Thanks for your inputs

Oh it sounds like this is from HSBC USA - I don't have that yet - I was referring to my HSBC AU

Ah my bad. In AU my account is called HSBC Premier Cast Management Account. Also you should be able to click My Relationship Manager under My Banking on website and see that you’re Premier

were you able to do this immediately when opening your accounts in Oz or did you have to move money through your accounts for 6 months with $9k
