Strategy to obtain US Amex

On my Equifax (I am able to create an account but there is no score, none of my cards are listed) I can see they have a USGlobal Mail address - CA- I used as a trial -this is what I have been trying to correct to list my current address but with no success.

I have just reactivated the mailbox and made that my mailing address in an attempt to see if that will “correct” itself. Need to wait for Amex to report the next months statements to see if that changes anything

I have a home address as a friend’s apartment in NY and my mailing address as US Global in CA.
You’ve done better than me - i can’t get any of them to even acknowledge me - but I haven’t tried phoning yet - I’ll try ringing the FICO lot in the morning….

That’s the address that it was posted to for their copy - I have a version with my Australian address on it where the IRS posted back to Australia

Is that an advantage ?
I don’t think so - I take it as no credit agency has this address - it was just the address the SH studios used it to get the ITIN posted to then

Oh interesting - I never got an IRS copy…. (Just the scan of the Maza received one)

Yes, similar here. The IRS sent me the ITIN in Oz. I was just curious about your post, “ ITIN has SH Studios address”. Anyway, all good.
From what I understand from SH - they put your name and their postal address on every ITIN application they do - they include your Australian address in the ITIN application too - so you get a "fast version" posted to them that they scan to you and a "slow version" that gets posted to your AU address

I wonder if mine (through Maza) just hasn’t shown up yet then. But it was October so it’s VERY slow if thats the case. That said I’m not sure I’ll ever need a physical paper copy

Probably prudent to have a copy. You never know when you may need it. I seem to recall someone needed to send a copy to a bank/credit card provider when it was requested. Maybe someone who was in that position may chime in.

Edit: October? Seems a bit excessive.

From the IRS website: “Allow 7 weeks for us to notify you about your ITIN application status. It can take 9-11 weeks if it's tax season (January 15 to April 30) or if you applied from overseas”

From memory my Australian one took 4-5 months - but they also had the country as "Austria" so not sure if the letter did a European leg first

FWIW I recently sent physical letters using an online service (offered by my PMB provider) to both TU and Experian to request my credit file. Both responded within 2 weeks.

TU provided the full statement, Experian said they couldn't verify me with the information provided (whatever that means). I haven't followed up with Experian yet.

With these online mail services the process was quite straightforward.

I used docupost and it was great - easy and fast
With Experien I got the same letter first time, I just called them and asked what do I need to verify and they verified my letter over phone and posted me a copy of my file

Going to give that a try in the next couple days, thanks!

I’ve sent the scan to several banks. Never had an issue
