Strategy to obtain US Amex

From memory I left it blank and it allowed me through - albeit with the requirement. I put my Marriott Amex number into the application to apply as an existing cardholder. Was good as I got a better than public sign up offer. I don’t recall using private mode in my browser to get it.

I wasn't able to progress through the form without entering a SSN/ITIN, so I called, explained this to the agent and asked to apply using a passport number.

Applying over the phone took 25 minutes as many terms and conditions had to be read out.

When the application was submitted, the outcome was that more information was required.

I was offered the option to call the number of the department needing more information later on, or to be transferred.

I was transferred and just needed to confirm year of birth and the USA mailing address where the card was to be sent to. Then got confirmation of approval!

What are the 2 x US Amex cards you now have?

Hilton Aspire & Bonvoy Brilliant.

Next on the list is the Business Gold Charge for x4 points on Ad spend... Think I'm going to have to get an ITIN for that.
Nice one and I just completed a stay at Sheraton Grand Mirage Gold Coast and was very satisfying plonking down the Bonvoy Brilliant card when checking in. I also had the seafood buffet lunch and received 20% off the bill for elite status and received the statement credit for the lunch within 2 days.

What properties did you intend to use the Aspire card at? I love the potential of the card but the Australian properties don’t excite me much, overseas different story.

Have you stayed at the Parmelia Hilton Perth. The renovation is planned to be completed next month. But the food served at the restaurant incl brekkie is one the best in Australia (I am not a foodie). I am a Hilton Diamond, so have received upgrades and Free Brekkie in Perth. They dont have a lounge. Instead they give you a complementary entree and I think drink voucher.
The Doubletree Hilton in Melbourne is not good at all...Food is pricey and not worth the money. Rooms are small too.
I got approved for the Marriott Bonvoy Business through Amex. Expecting to receive it tomorrow with the Platinum Elite. Do note, Platinum Elite is not the top tier in Bonvoy whereas Diamond is with Hilton meaning some high end properties you wont get access to the lounge and free Brekkie.

I helped a colleague get the Hilton Aspire and he stayed at the Hilton Parmelia and received an upgrade to a suite and was very happy indeed with the stay. For the members on here who get the Amex personal and business Bonvoy cards it is a tremendous opportunity to receive lifetime status down the line as 30 nights is very close to the 50 night mark required for Platinum each year. I was lucky during the merger and transferred many SPG points to Marriott over the 2 years that all counted under the old points rules for lifetime status and was able to obtain status for life so adding the business card doesn't help me too much as I mainly travel during peak periods and have yet to have a suite night clear in all the attempts.

I tried it with Amex since my credit score needs to be updated (happening on 17 Jan) and I have a green card. My next target is for a business card is the Hilton Amex Business. Anyone out here with a non-amex business card?

Ah great. Thanks for reminding me about the Marriott elite dining discount (Used to use the SPG one).

We have 2 Aspire cards in the family and are planning to use at Waldorf Astoria, Maldives. Because the free night certificates have been extended until 2022 we should have 4 nights to use there. Will probably tack on a few points nights too.

Well that is a brilliant use of the certs and will be worth 1000's nice job! I think I need to think big picture with the Aspire card if I get it and using it at Waldorf Astoria's is a fantastic way.

The number I used was 2013283289. Did they give you application ID? You will need it when sending docs. The number you have look correct as well but I think the difference is it is Chase general fax number while the other one goes straight to verification department. At this point, no need to rush.
Ok finally got the letter from Chase through to PostScanMail and received the below with the same fax number. Can't really send what they want exactly so just sent the app ID, passport, ITIN, Cap1 checking account and my Amex statement page all with address included. Sent a cover letter explaining I am Spire Ambassador and would love to use their card to enhance my stay and will keep it long term. A bit wishy washy but maybe it will help fingers crossed.

Those are standard. Chase never says they accept a bank statement and at one point (even last year), they rejected it (HUCA did the trick). They seem cool with statements these days. 99% approval :D

Try JW Marriott next time, They just renovated and it is very nice, modern 👌.
I am in Brisbane and usually to to Gold Coast on the weekends, the new JW Marriott is my new prefer destination.

I got 30 nights from 2 bonvoy cards (both Amex). Then Marriott is again giving 50% elite nights based on your status in 2020 so another 25 nights for me, 55 nights without any stay. Platinum until 2023. Everybody seems to be Platinum now. Might try for Titanium this year. 20 nights is doable.

Just to add more fun to your excitement, There is a Marriott Global Promotion from February 16 – April 27, 2021. Members earn double points and double elite qualifying nights for stays of two nights or longer during the promotion period. So if you stay during this period you just need 10 nights...to become Titanium. This is going to be official I think 16 Jan (USA time I think) but the promotion is on the internet

Just called the automated line and the status has moved from 7 - 10 days to 30 days so I believe that is good news and should be approved? Do I still need to call and speak to someone or any chance I can be approved in the next few days?

30 days normally mean not processed yet. I think it's just that they received your fax and attached to your app waiting for someone to look. It should be approved soon but if you need the card fast, you can call.

Bad news on the JW Marriott Gold Coast front as the category is now category 6 :(

The Vacation Club is still category 5 and at present is part of points saver award space, just picked up 5 nights in a 2 bedroom suite for 48,500 per night with 5th night free :)
