Strategy to obtain US Amex

From what I know you can’t change your home address to a foreign one on Amex. They can send you a replacement card etc abroad but not make a permanent address change

My understanding is that for address changes outside of the US, you would need to phone, and not through the on-line account.

The quote from tlam is somewhere upthread. Although it refers to a US Citi card, it may be something to keep in mind for Amex.

i actually have a UK Plat with my Australian address attached. Just had a quick look at that and it does say call if outside the UK

Assume the same applies in the US

Will give it 12mths and give them a call & see what happens

Hi All what is the easiest way to get the green card?. or are the only real options the hilton cards or the bonvoy?

I am an aus Amex customer.

Is there a particular US telco that’s better/worse than others?

TextNow works with Amex & Cap1, but I don’t believe it works with Chase, what about others?

I was helping @rossb3 with how to apply etc and hadn't recommended a specify card for him. I was helping him with the process.

FICO can take anywhere between 6-10 months.

I guess since you got your FICO, u have held ur Aspire for more than 6 months. You can apply online or over the phone. I applied for my Mrs over the phone (she does not have a ITIN nor SSN). Her Green card was approved. I would recommend doing it over the phone since you already have a US credit card and the US Amex Sales team would be more than happy to get you one. As part of the process someone from the credit team needed to approve her application after the application was processed by the Sales Rep. Which was just a formality as she was asked for her name/DOB and Address.

My FICO took 9 months. My next US Amex will be the Green Card. Just wondering another GT or ITIN route

Would updating your income be a trigger for financial review if it is materially different from your previously declared income? Amex keeps asking me to update my income to get a credit limit increase, but I am hesitant to do so in case it triggers a financial review since my income is from Australia, not US based.

I have the same request from Chase ....but I have not updated my income. However, I have increased my income when applying for a new card after I got a raise. I have 4 Amex Biz card and 1 Personal with SSN. My income is also in Oz.

There is no set rule as I could not find a Data Point. With SSN/ITIN you can apply for 2 cards in 90 days. I applied for the second card after 9 months for Mrs without SSN/ITIN once she got her FICO

I have been using TMobile (prepaid $3/month) with Amex, Chase, Cap1 (checking) and works flawless. Always receive Chase and Cap1 verfication 2-factor text messages.

I can second above. this is for 99% of cases. However, when a customer support rep sends you a code, it only can be received by a postpaid number.
You get 30 text messages (in and out are counted) per month. However, I have setup with google voice and it works like a charm for 2 factor auth

I use Chase and when they do an income update I just convert my Australian taxable income into US dollars at the exchange rate that day.
With my US phone switched off i just use email to update/verify anything.
Our home phone in the US is on and so is DirecTV. All those telemarketers must have given up by now.
We will be going back there sooner rather than later.
I need to re-start my Citi Costco credit card as that fell thru the cracks and expired.

To those who have applied for or are trying for a cap1 card. Is it necesssry to have an ITIN and also at least 2 to 3 years of credit history to be successful?

I’ve had my Bonvoy brilliant for just over a year and have had a FICO score for about 5-6 months now. It’s only at Very Good though, not the excellent that cap1 seems to want for their Venture X. Working on getting an ITIN, but do not have that yet.

Just applied for the Rose Gold last night, my 4th Amex US card. It currently has a highest ever sign-up bonus of 90k MR points. I use a forwarding address in Florida this time, so won’t have to see Amex send the card to the on-file address by default, report it got lost or undelivered, and wait for 10 days to request replacement (Amex can only send a replacement card to any address worldwide). But because of using a different address, I didn’t get instant approval and had to call them. The customer care representative was really understanding and even appreciated for my decision of being time-conscious and “environmentally friendly”
