Strategy to obtain US Amex

I'm a recent applicant to this whole game - have you been long term or more like a recent event triggered by card getting returned vis MyUS
Only about 2-3 months in. I think it’s from my second card’s first statement (ended a month ago) which was still on USMail. Switched it to paperless now so hopefully all good

Lot of people on DOC comment section have indicated that they got the bonus even after doing regular transfers from other banks. I transferred 250 once from my HSBC US checkin account which coded as web transfer on my statement and did the 2nd 250 from IBKR which coded as Direct Deposit. Even though the offer conditions state 2 X 250 of DD, it seems bank transfers just work fine. The bonus usually gets credited within a week's time.

May I know how did you do that with IBKR? Did you open an AU / US account with IBKR. I tranferred 2x $250 from WISE but it didn't trigger the bonus. Now, I'm looking for an alternative. Thanks

It's an AU IBKR account. Once you have the account open, you can wire funds from your AU bank account, buy USD at spot and then link your US bank account and do a ACH transfer.
IBKR offers wire and ACH transfers. C1 rejected my wire transfer but ACH went through.

Has anyone received an email from Amex about MyUS address. Seems they can’t send mail and are asking me to update it.
Thinking I may need to look at another mail service to change address to. Have seen other mention planet express
Any other options ?

They sent this email to me 2 times one this year and the other last year and my address is a real residential address.

In the past, sometimes they didn't include the apartment number. I normally used just line 1 for it. I had issues with both APT # on either line 1 or 2 and the CSR ended up adding it on both lines.

Thanks for feedback - will leave all alone - was investigating options for virtual address but seems a bit pricey for something I dont really need - not sure if/when get more cards may become more beneficial

Thanks for the info. Will give it a go shortly.

I am in the United States, my brother lives here.

Happy to list the address for a commission :D - Maybe.

I opened a BOFA account today, the lady advised I can get a credit card, one of those ones that you can build credit on, that doesn't require you to have an ITIN/SSN, might consider it.

Whilst I’m on it, BOFA has a welcome bonus of $200, does anyone know how I could be eligible for this as I don’t get an income on the USA and it appears that wire transfers and other standard deposits may not apply.

Can get free option . Pricey only when you need something forwarded . Can instead call bank and ask them to forward to oz direct after few days .

I am wondering if REVOLUT would work, or would that be the same as say Wise?

Revolut works well and I can send cash via routing number and account.

Revolut shows it as an ACH CREDIT.

Having opened my checking account, and made 2 x Wise deposits of $250-plus, the bonus $350 hit the checking account today (took 5 days from the most recent deposit) 😀

Still working out which non-Amex credit card to apply for

I ended up calling in and completed the application via online finish portal. I noticed when I was in there that there was the bonus350 code and I got notified the requirements. It did ask me to link an account but I didn't.

That shouldn't be a problem so long as I transfer in the money right?

That’s my experience

Waited for a day in between. The second transfer was on the day following the first.

Edited

Thanks for that.

Contemplating whether it's worth wasting 1/24 for Cap 1 VX. Currently 4/24 and VX will be 5/24 but I'm not sure if 90K points is worth burning my last slot. I won't be 4/24 until March next year.

Given that I just got CIP I won't be eligible to apply for any other Chase cards for the next 2 months. Next on my radar might be another IHG Business or Amex Business.

Anything else worth getting right now? Amex's Business cards are heavy spends. I liked the Marriott 3 night cert for 6K spend only verses the 8K now needed for 125k points.

Amex Hilton Biz is always an easy filler card if you can see yourself ever staying at a Hilton.

Just approved for a Citi AA Biz card. They had to send a code via snail mail to my US address to confirm it, as expected. Will see how the card goes being used in Australia. My guess is I'm going to encounter a lot of fraud blocks that will make it a huge hassle to meet the minimum spend requirement.
