Strategy to obtain US Amex

If they asked for tax returns, most likely you applied normally using ITIN and also no credit score?
Amex randomly ask people for income verification on new applications. Been seeing a lot of data points of people being hit with it this year, including people with longstanding Amex relationships. Only pattern I've been able to discern from the cohort of existing Amex customers is that you're more likely to get hit with an income verification request if you're floating a lot when you apply for the new card.

I thought nthd_nthd didn't do GT or the app didn't go through GT since it shouldn't have asked for income verification.

Not sure what they did. All I meant to signal is that this year Amex have been increasingly flagging people for income verification at the card application stage. If you're unlucky enough to get flagged, there's no way around it — you have to submit the docs they want or you won't get approved.

Wow. I tried since Jan, still no luck, they keep rejecting me or asking for 3 month bank statement or tax return v.v. I m lost confused with Amex.

My cousin address

How are you actually applying? and what is your history with amex AU?

Try calling this number +1 866 929 5160 and ready to confirm your name and address. I had same issue but calling this number didn't ask for any bank statement or any bills approved straight way.
Yep this is the number I called - Said they need more information/income information from me. By reading up to now I suspect my Aus card is not qualified for GT. Can someone please confirm? I Have business Amex Explorer. TIA

I've never heard of anyone applying with an AU Biz Amex. Only personal cards. This sounds like why you're being flagged consistently.

I did my first GT while holding only an AU Biz plat so don't think that would be a reason. I've held personal Amx before that, but at the time of GT only had AU biz plat...

@nthd did you have a personal amex before hand?

Applied for GT. I have an amex plat personal for the last 6 years. No late payments.
Rang +1 866 929 5160 to follow up on the application. They are asking me to upload a bank statement/utility bill etc that is at least 1 month old as verification of US address.

Did you happen to use ITIN in your application? If so, try without.

Yep, initially when they requested ITIN I gave them. Got rejected. Then waited a month, applied again told them I just relocated have no record of Tax but Passport as Government ID. They still rejected it.

Edit: Fake news, see next post

Wise has announced changes to transfer fees - for AUD:USD there is a higher fixed fee but lower %.

Transfers of ~AU$2400 or greater will be better off, smaller transfers will be worse off
