Strategy to obtain US Amex

Aspire Resort Credit DP for Hilton Surfers Paradise if you aren't making a resort booking in the 1st half of the year:

May 8: Purchased a Ms Margots dining gift card on this website: Gift Vouchers
Coded as the actual Hilton hotel initially.
May 11: Received the Hilton Resort Credit cashback.

Currently trying out the accommodation gift cards, will get back to this later in the week.
Coming back to this one now, bought an accommodation gift card ($250) and transaction came through the same way. Zero catches. Credit came 3-4 days later.

Noting the 2% surcharge also applies to gift card purchases (same as the hotel).

Resort Credit all used for the first half of the year.

Great DP.
The gift card seems can only be used in SP hilton?
So will have to make a trip to GC regardless, unless resell the Gift card.

Anyone know how to get out of pop up jail?

I've only have 1 us amex card, never signed up for any other and put on average $100-200 USD of spending on the card. Never ever use the cashback offers either.

Everytime I try to sign up for a new card I get the dreaded popup. At first I thought it was due to using a referral link but the same occurs without a referral either.

Don't know what else I can do.

The only thing I can think of that may cause the issue is that I've transferred over a million of points from my au amex to us amex account.

I learned this the hard way - I was requested for that form and submitted got rejected and applied again and again - all rejected. Wish I saw this earlier
Did you submit the form or just continued to apply for the card again and again?

I only ask as some forums are claiming that amex use this to prove you are a free person and not to verify your income.

Yes, only for Hilton Surfers Paradise and then you have to email their reservations team to link the gift card to the existing reservation.

I did submit the form but still got rejected. And they said they wanted to verify me. However they said they couldn't because I did lodge any tax in previous years. My reply was of course because I recently relocated to US. They still insist I was not qualified.
I did waited over a month to apply again. Still declined.

I was in pop up jail for a while (had a gold and green charge card). Ended up beating it by applying for a Hilton card via Doctor of Credit and GT still worked

Decent Amex Offer from Marriott: Spend $350 get $140 USD back. Only problem is its NA based.

Ah well.

Hey looking for some advice regarding partners credit card options.

She just got a fico score (683) viewable via Amex site. She has no SSN and recently cancelled her AUS Amex to reapply in 18 months time.

Which US credit cards, if any, are available to her with a FICO score with 7 months credit history but no SSN/ITIN?

Cheers

What options are you thinking of?

Presumably there's no option for Amex GT given they no longer hold an Australian Amex.

And they are not going to be able to fill out the application form for any other card given they have no SSN/ITIN.

You've answered my question and confirmed what I thought, thanks.

Does it make sense for her to obtain an ITIN now and if she did would it even be tied to her existing FICO score?

She's done GT before and already got a card? If so, the only option without ITIN/SSN is Amex. She can call to apply but will only get a standard signup bonus and no referral. I would apply for ITIN now and wait around 2 months.

Thanks. Yes she currently has a Green Card. At least that is one option to call up and still get another AMEX. The cost of the ITIN application using a company put us off tbh. But I guess it is worth it in the long run..

I've read a little about applying for an ITIN. Is it as simple as applying through one of the links.
Which address do you provide for the ITIN (is it your US address). Are there any other things to consider for an ITIN that you need to complete every year? I'll be travelling to the states early next year and probably pop into one of the banks to open a local checking account.

Stopped looking into this a while ago after my last Amex rejection in Jan 2024 but keen to try again.

I was thinking, given Amex appears to be cracking down on churners, that instead of chasing a bonus point offer with them, I instead just apply for one of their no annual fee cards with a small credit limit? The main thing is getting into the system so that I can use the GT route right?

I have been transferring enough money to my HSBC account to get HSBC Premier by July - is that still a possible route or am I wasting my time?

If I can at least do the two things above, from memory the rest is relatively smooth sailing?

If at least get some quick responses to the above I'll go back through all the pages I've missed over the last few months.

Yes that is one way of doing it.

My understanding is that it's complete luck of the draw with your GT application - sometimes they ask for quite a lot of documentation, sometimes a HSBC statement is sufficient, sometimes you don't get asked for anything at all.

If you're smart about it - yes - once you physically get the card it's usually smooth. Just don't do what I did and put a business class flight on your shiny new $20k limit US Amex .. and need to jump through hoops with fraud preventation.

But it's all worth it. Just booked 3 nights at Conrad Tokyo during peak cherry blossom weekend.

Paid 95k HH from an NLL Surpass + 2 x FNC... apparently extracted $6k value (but who's actually paying that...)
