Strategy to obtain US Amex

Applied for a HSBC US Premier account through AU relationship. Super simple, applied online and got an email back from HSBC within 2-3 days. They asked for a recent AU Premier statement and next day account was granted. Is there any benefits to the HSBC US Premier account aside from the address? Also applied for an ITIN through SHStudios on Fiverr...sittng tight for that now

Why a 2 week delay by IRS should mean a month delay for me doesn't make a heap of sense, but anyway I'm at 9.5 weeks now and will report back once I've got the ITIN as a firm data point.

Sounds about right. The IRS will process it in their own sweet time (11 weeks for me). And about 2 weeks in the mail. My CAA emailed me a copy of the ITIN before I received a hard copy from the IRS. That was my experience.

You're unlikely to be able to get a Chase card unless you have at least 12 months of credit history.

Yeah I didn't mean phrase it like that. I meant I'll wait until my ITIN arrives and apply for a Chase after. I got my FICO in Sept 23 so should have a decent score Sept this year. Are Chase Biz cards easy to get much like Amex biz cards?

Not directly comparable as the hurdles are different for each bank, but overall yes they're easy to get approvals once you have an established credit history.

Yeah. The hsbc cards are free so can keep them forever .

Thanks for confirming. I’ll use my US gold/green Amex’s for the bonus points so should warn well despite the poor currency. It’s only seeking to use my QFF points for payment. How do we change the payment type on marketplace?

If you use QF points for payment you won't earn more QF points - however when you go to purchase, there's a slider to select to how many points to use, slide that to zero and max $ amount, and bingo.

I would suggest waiting until your FICO appears, which is more difficult to find out now the app doesn't show it. Awardwallet does show it though, once it's there.

I ve been comparing and always saw Wise cheaper/better rate than HSBC Au-> HSBC Us.

Apply through your us rm if you are premier . Yes they will take 5/24 spots

With regards to reaching premier status from HSBC Australia (By transferring 9k in and out for 6 months), does your new status get automatically updated on your account ?

And if i were to open a premier account in another country (ie. Malaysia, Singapore etc) will i need to provide a local address ? Or an Australian address will be good enough ?
