Thanks, will try to be cautious with them. Seems like large amount (over 1k) in supermarket seems to be trigging fr (or temp suspend on acc) fairly easy.Main danger with Amex is FR if you float too much with them.

Financial review.What is FR please?
Haha, thank you for replying. I was busy yesterday, so didn't have time to read the news until close to midnight. Thanks for tip re ATL airport. I shall be avoiding that airport (And Miami ) at all cost.Senator Wong said so. Very officially: Australia's participation in the United States Global Entry program
It's on a bunch of news sites and blogs too. Also, side note, ATL Airport is the worst US Airport I've ever seen... Queues on queues for days. Having Clear or PreCheck or whatever would've it less terrible. Just slightly less.
Yep, not to mention it opens up QF to non-Plat cardholders too.Edit: Ignore me - 1/.54 more USMR from AUMR but AUMR>QF is 2:1 and USMR>QF is 1:1… so is this right?
1000 aumr gets you 500qf
1000 aumr gets you 650 usmr
650 usmr = 650qf
30% bonus? Not a bad deal… bank aumr and transfer to usmr and then back to qf (if that’s your points collection goal) once a year
I opened a US Premier account using Aussie Premier as the starting point - weirdly using my US address they said no, applying using my Aussie address, as a cross-border applicant, no issues. Debit card arrived via DHL this week, accepts payment by ACH, Wire, all the other US cough, so it's a real US account, not like the USD account on my HSBC AU/HSBC Expat accounts.I have just become Au HSBC Premier 'enabled'. However there is only a generic call centre number under 'My Relationship Manager' in internet banking.
I've called that twice and been put on hold for 30 mins before giving up...
I then tried to sign up for a checking account via the US HSBC site (clicking yes, I am a Premier member overseas), but was auto-rejected after completing the application.
For those that have done this recently, are 30+ min on hold phone calls the only way to leverage Au HSBC 'Premier' status for a US transaction account ?
Good data point, thanks - when trying to apply for the CC it's asking me to call them. But it does say they can issue credit cards to overseas applicants, so I'm confused there.Fine for checking account
However I found with credit card that it works as mailing address but my UK address was not accepted as residential address (I was actually initially declined for this reason but managed to overturn after updating my address on file). So used myus address as residential and uk address as mailing then was approved.
iPhone. I used this spoofing app on Mac below and put my iPhone in developer mode.Did you use android or iPhone for address location verification ?
I actually had an issue with passport verification too, what happened was my browser had cookies blocked or something so it didn't work, but when I copied the link to another browser it worked. If you try to apply again maybe this might help?
All else with HSBC failing, it looks like you can get some sort of bank account with MAZA who also do your ITIN. Haven't investigates myself what type it is but I guess it can't hurt to look
Thanks, they unblocked my account on Monday and I've been able to buy a gift card today.I've been able to do Amazon, Apple, and HEB (grocery) gift cards. BUT -- I always use a VPN with a confirmed US IP address BEFORE I start the cart / enter my payment details. It certainly works with my US cards, some AUS issued cards, and more interestingly, with Wise (multi-currency conversion/transfer) cards. Seems most basically just verify 5 digit ZIP code in credit card AVS system. For Costco gift cards -- I've been successful using StackSocial.com
Good luck!
ThanksiPhone. I used this spoofing app on Mac below and put my iPhone in developer mode.
PSA there were some concerns with this app on reddit (with data sharing) so I used an old mac and an old iPhone. Also didnt work very well but tried repeatedly and eventually got it work for long enough to verify my physical location.

Put your Australian income in the income box (I convert to USD). They won't check with the IRS, unless you get a 4506c request from Amex as part of an application or financial review. And if you get one of those, what you put in the box won't matter.Just curious, what do people generally put in the income section of the credit card application and anything in the non-taxable section?
I've been entering my aust income (Excuse being that I'm being paid through my australian employer) and nothing in the non-taxable section.
I've been thinking whether I should be putting the income in the non taxable section instead and nothing in the taxable. Just in case they try to verify in the future with IRS.
Can someone please give me some guidance? I have been trying without success on any purchase from Walmart nor Amazon, they kept cancelling my orders. I am not dare to get around to Giftcards part yet but would be great if I could buy giftcards to use for my coming Hawaii trip. Thanks, they unblocked my account on Monday and I've been able to buy a gift card today.
Can I add it to my regular Uber account? Will the USD balance be available once I open Uber in the USA?
You need use your AU account with Amazon to buy stuff with your US address. Just buy a couple of things within Australia in Amazon AU with your US card and then use the same account with US card to buy stuff in the US with an addressCan someone please give me some guidance? Any advice on Maza? I'm trying to sign up - I bought the subscription on the site, entered order ID into the app and it keeps saying "Error 23". The support is pretty bad. They say needs to be done in the US but I'm on a US VPN and not sure how they would know/care outside of that.Hi all,
This thread has been great! Just wanted to provide some info on my own journey for others as it may be useful:
If anyone has any questions (or suggestions/tips!) let me know
- Massive points/card churner in oz, would consider myself expert level
- Moved to UK a little while ago, would say I am now a similar level in terms of knowing the market and maximising points
- Discovered this thread a few weeks ago and have made this my current points project. Process so far:
- Opened a HSBC US checking account (already premier with accounts globally as part of my move to the UK)
- Got a MyUS address and VOIP number (both basically free)
- Applied for a HSBC US Premier Credit Card (which was approved using UK payslips and bank statement with MyUS address)
- Applied for an ITIN through Maza for US $5/m, has been successfully submitted to the IRS
- Once ITIN is received will apply for first US Amex (if MyUS address doesnt work, I have a friend in the US who I will use their address)
- Once FICO score is decent will apply for Citi AAdvantage Card and aim to get Oneworld Emerald Status through spending 125k US$ a year as I regularly fly Oneworld and this won't be too hard for me to do. However will work out the cost benefit with the fx rates etc so maybe not.

Hmm… iOS app shouldn’t be able to access gps without consent. I need to try Android, but I only have AU google accounts and I’m not comfortable downloading an APK from one of those APK rip sites that knows you’re going to be uploading ID docs within the app lolI think you need to gps spoof
