Strategy to obtain US Amex

Any Citi expertise?
I like to get Citi AA Business card (75k mies SUB) and don't want it count toward my Chase 5/24.
Is it hard to get? I have about 15 months for credit history and roughly 7 inquiries on EX.

Thanks

Both of us have the Citi AA credit cards. We got them quickly but a colleague was rejected.
This card is handy fo us as we buy our family AA Miles for Christmas during the Thanksgiving promo that runs for about a week usually. Try for a 100k sign on.

Hi Everyone, I wonder if anyone has used amex checking statement as proof of address for chase application please. I still getting nowhere with chase, possibly due to no eligible proof of address, i have used amex credit card statement. Now I am trying to figure out which bank can I get a checking acc open without flying to US. Any advice would be appreciated, cheers.

I think the easiest way to get a US checking account without flying there is via HSBC Premier if that's a possibility.

If you already have an ITIN, can open Amex checking account (I opened mine from AU after I got my ITIN).

I'm sorry, I don't have any Chase cards so can't provide a DP on Chase accepting it as proof of address - I would be interested in the answer.

Thanks, I might get a amex checking set up first.

PS: You might even get the sign up bonus for the checking account. I got mine when I set it up - was a nice little extra. YMMV

Did you get approved for the Amex checking account straight away? Or they wanted a copy of your ITIN etc?

And did you have to file a tax return for the cash bonus?

I called HSBC yesterday, and that finally prompted them to send an email with the dreaded verification questions. I only got two questions, instead of like 6 like some people, so hopefully that is a good sign for me that my application is "simple" and will get approved when the person checks their emails again (or when I call back next week...)

Lots of checking accounts in the US claim they need proof of permanent residency, such as a visa or US passport or Real ID with address or similar. I think Wise and Revolut also provide US checking accounts(?) with ACH and Wire and all that US stuff which may or may not be accepted.

According to some of these websites, banks like Chase, will let you open a checking account with them, and their requirements aren't as strict as they say they are on the website. You may or may not wish to explore this further, ymmv.

Strangely, I have read that in the US, non-resident non-citizen aliens do NOT need to file tax returns for sign-up bonuses from banks, credit cards, etc etc. I can't imagine the IRS would care if you paid them more taxes though, plus this keeps your ITIN active. You may or may not need to include any bonuses on Australian accounts.

Amex Blue Business Plus

Here are the details of the new, better offer:

  • Earn 50,000 Membership Rewards Points after spending $5,000 on your new Blue Business Plus Card within the first 3 months.
  • No annual fee
I seen this targeted deal is available to me as a no lifetime language offer. It is appealing to me as it has no annual fee and spend requirement is reduced to 5k in 3 months. Also this wouldn't take up a 5/24 slot.

I haven't had this card before so it would be my lifetime offer until another no lifetime offer comes along.. May be interesting to other people who have already had this card in the past.

I was wondering are AMEX business cards issued electronically immediately after being approved like my last personal Amex gold was?

Did you use the Citi biz card for this?
Yes.

If you're instantly approved, generally yes. If you have to be approved after some intervention by an agent, it is less likely.

Just received my ITIN and tried to open a cap1 360 checking account.

Got the following after entering my ITIN:
At this time, we can only open accounts for new customers with an ITIN in person. Find your nearest Capital One location.

Did anyone else come across this? People early in the thread opened the account pretty easily...

Damn, I want to diversify away from AMEX (and for future proof of address)

Is there any other checking accounts that can be opened online with ITIN other than amex?

I've tried US Bank which looks like they accept ITIN but it says my ITIN is invalid (could be its still too new).

I hope you are aware that this card comes with a foreign transaction fee of 2.7%.

US bank don't do ITIN online - only in branch.

It does say it will accept it but it errors all the time.

I wish I knew an easy way to get a SSN :(
