Strategy to obtain US Amex

Just went thru my HSBC transactions and none of them got bonus points except Purchases from Qantas marketplace, Airlines and Cruises. Transactions from Coles/Woolworths/Ampol/7Eleven all got 1x. šŸ˜¢
How did you pay? In store tap? Apple Pay? Online click and collect?

Does HSBC have an option to view the MCC?

I see the current Hilton card SUBs run until 1/8/25 (which I assume is 8th January).

I got the Surpass this month and definitely want to get the Aspire before a big trip to WA Maldives in April but will it be pushing it to apply for either the Aspire or Basic which card before Jan 8th? I also wanted to get the Gold Charge as a lot of my spending is on restaurants globally......

NB I should have my ITIN around the end of October so wondered if I could do something like the following :

November - apply for Gold
December apply for Aspire
Jan (before 8th) apply for Basic

Remember to link your ITIN to your Amex account asap after you get it. The timeframe is a bit tight but you may get lucky. I didn't

I wish I did mine - I got it nearly a year ago and didn't add (didn't really know how to do it truthfully) and was waiting for FICO to come and then apply for second card - It was in the time they were phasing out seeing the FICO score, I was thinking I still hadn't got one, I probably did just didn't see it - but I wasn't aware of that.

I did apply for a platinum a few weeks and it just arrived today (DHL delivering on a weekend which is great service) and I was able to active and add to account - I am ho[ing that this card was applied with the ITIN it will now get reflected in the overall Amex account and take into account the 13 month green card history.

I just was reading through the platinum information and got a 2 page Credit Report included

It stated my credit score is 684 (Experian) with a date from Aug 2024 - no idea if that is reasonable or poor for 13 month history of green card from. GT application. Looking at Experian website that seems in "Good" range - but nothing to write home about - hoping to improve to very good to be able to get some Chase cards in the next 6 months
