Strategy to obtain US Amex

NY state require you to get a learners permit and do a driving test. I suspect you also need proof of residence. New Jersey let's you convert an international license to a local license but you need to do a theory test and a test for colour blindness. You also had to prove residence from memory (I had a bank statement addressed to a friend's address).
honestly, it's probably worth also visiting the US and going up to New York state itself and completing a driving test. That way you also have a US ID on top of your ITIN! security validations become so much quicker with this route

I was thinking of getting a learners which is pretty easy - it seems valid for 5 years - and come back at a future date to do a test - wouldn't have time to do it this upcoming trip - at least that will give a form of ID that is valid for 5 years
I have a friend letting me use his apartment as an address in NY

I am keen on going this route as well but have no one address but my current US GLOBAL in NV. Any DP on NV anyone? NY is too far from Westcoast to add on another trip.

I have got a targeted email offer for BBP for 50K points - using the link can complete the application but get to end and just says - sorry system is down try again - tried to call the number they suggest and they said can help apply but won’t be the target offer that can only be taken up via email

Anyone had issues like this - offer expires 29/11 so have a bit more time up my sleeve and will keep trying

This would be ideal - great work - need a friend in NJ - unfortunately no one comes to mind - the NY non DL State ID unfortunately is harder to get as need SSN exemption or proof on VISA where DL is anyone can get

So I was going to make an appointment with NY DMV when I’m there early next year to get non DL ID to have one final crack at C1. Sounds like it’s a non-starter?

Go for it. The worst scenario they would tell you what else you need if you are not qualified. Rather than guessing. But according to what I read early on, we can with ITIN and Passport and Address ie. Bank statements

Thanks for the heads up. I’ll give it a go. Will likely drag the kids along with me. They will kill me if we have to go back hehehe

Btw is there a number we can call to get clear on this? I’ve sent them a message online but believe might be more productive to give them a call especially since it seems I can’t make an appointment online further than a week from now. I wanted to make it for January when I’ll be in town.

Yes I’m being impatient, but is there anyway to see my new Gold card number before I receive the physical card? The instant card in the account says not eligible. I just need the number to finalise the MR transfer
