Strategy to obtain US Amex

Did you go to the very end of the application? I think the issue with C1 will be they’ll want US govt issued ID. You might have got that covered already - that’s where my application fell over. I was approved for the Venture but I didn’t have US govt issued ID so my application lapsed.
fair enough - I didn't go through with the application at all - I just checked the pre approval tool to see what I might get

Same with me . I have venture card but can’t get it activated .

For future historians (and chasers of US CCs), if you do not have an SSN or have only recently obtained an ITIN, building your portfolio up with AMEX US (personal) cards is highly recommended. The safest option is to apply the 2nd card with your ITIN, wait at least a year after receiving your FICO score (6 months + 12 months) through AMEX, and then start looking at the market for what is available.

If you do have some sort of bank account in the US, it will also help somewhat collate your info (esp if you applied and accepted with your ITIN)! I do not know the requirements of the AMEX Savings account, so there is no DP there. Additionally, around the 12-month mark, you could try looking for offers that are like 'check to see if you're pre-approved' as it will also give some indication of what banks might be willing to take you. But as of writing this post, do not apply for CREDIT ONE cards, which can commonly be mistaken as Capital One's credit cards.

Never even heard of Credit One!

I did also recently get a W9 form from Amex re my checking and HY savings accounts. Has anyone else received one of these? How did you respond?
I haven't received one but I didnt get any cash back with my checking account - did they post or email to you out of curiousty
Can you do what other's have done with the HSBC one and just ignore it?

Did the C1 Pre Approval tool and it came up with Quicksilver with Cashback or Platinum - not what I was after - was hoping to get a Venture Rewards - any advice would be good

I am thinking to wait and build up credit more and review in a few months and see if I can get the Venture (that would be my 3rd card)
Only question I have does getting a Platinum get you in as a segway to make C1 cards more likely in the future?

PS - also tried to apply for C1 Checking account using $250 reward from upstream and now seems can only open C1 checking in person with ITIN

I got cap1 (Platinum then got auto upgraded to QuickSilver Cashback after few months) without any US govt issued ID. Applied with ITIN, it helps a lot with building Credit scores. Plus Free so can keep forever.

So they offered you an upgrade of Platinum to Quicksilver - were there other card's offered or this was only one - I wonder if I get the Platinum and can consider upgrade to Venture in future?
