Strategy to obtain US Amex

In Barclay letter requesting for more documents, there is a ITIN Application approval letter Plus IRS CP565 Notice. I just received/got the CP565 Notice when I done the ITIN. Where do we get Application approval letter? Had ITIN done via shstudio, Did they provide Application approval letter?
It's the same document.

Did they accept your ID?

Keep us posted if this works
Right so I'm probably more surprised than anyone - Hilton Aspire card approved. Maybe the Nova Credit box I ticked worked in the background.

They also never asked for address verification, so no HSBC statement required.

New fear unlocked - Amex sends card to the address on my ITIN letter (instead of the address I used to sign up) because they never asked for address verification. That being said, Amex also set up a new hilton account for me, reflects diamond status and has my US address on it, so at least I hope that is a good sign that the card will get sent to the right place (and not some random accountant's office)

Finally - how to set up an online account? The link in the welcome email glitches out and won't work. I just went to the public website and set up an account, but I can't "log in" without adding my card, and I obviously can't do that before I get it.

Have I done everything right so far? I was hoping I would get a virtual card number to start spending but I guess I'll have to wait and see.

That's very interesting - I might try my P2 as well on that one and see how she goes - Don't stress wherever Amex send first card in 10 days call and ask them to reissue to Australia
Probably as don't have an account have to wait for card to arrive to create the account linked to it

I only received my virtual card after my third amex card and have an account

I suspect you have done all you can do, just wait for card to arrive and then create account

I believe you will need to receive the first card to set up your online account .

Epic. They’ll send to the address you entered. You’ll see very soon in the tracking

Try the link again. You should be able to set up your account though I doubt you’ll be able to do anything with it yet as instant card number doesn’t seem to work unless it’s a simple/straight accepted application

Has anyone done direct debits to pay off AMEX from HSBC US account? Any issues?
Got the "Future Transactions May Be Declined" email so thinking off paying some $$ off.

Mate its like you are working at Amex. The link works after you told me to check again. I do need the card number to continue - I wonder if this means I will have 2 accounts now? One dummy blank account and the "actual" one. Whatever, let's just wait.

How long for the tracking number usually?

I pay wise to HSBC which seems instant. Then from Amex I pull a payment in to the Amex from the linked hsbc account. It appears instantly my Amex and seems to clear the future transactions issue, though doesn’t appear to actually leave my HSBC account for a few days

Varies. My aspire got processed 13th shipped 14th and arrived yesterday 15th!

My gold and surpass took a week and a bit from memory. I think the tracking appears a few days after it’s requested (when card is produced and shipped)

I tried to search but couldn’t see properly
Anyone got the $350 bonus for Amex High Yield - I got another email but from memory when I started the application last time I needed to confirm W9 form
Has anyone completed without filling in W9?

Might be of interest to some but after submitting my ITIN ago HSBC a few weeks ago I’ve now been able to open a Relationship Savings account linked to my Premier for the 3.75% APR on deposits

Over on flyertalk, there has been a bit of talk about Hilton Queenstown Resorts coding as "Hilton Auckland AU" (which doesn't exist) and thus not triggering the Hilton Aspire credit. These are mostly US-based booking non-advanced purchase rates

Anyone have any experience booking an advanced purchase rate here and getting the credit?

Hilton Auckland does exist?

FWIW, a flexible rate that is booked with QT resorts, still gets charged to "Hilton Hotels Auckland AU" when you call up and ask to pre-pay.

I tried this back in Aug and it worked. So perhaps there might be something else going on. It did take 4-5 days to be credited.

Hilton Auckland exists, but I think the flyertalk people were expecting to see Hilton Auckland NZ or something because Auckland isn't in Australia.

I was hoping that I could use the advance purchase rate (because cheaper is always better!) - reports of a lot of getting the aspire credit on non-US Hiltons when using advance purchase. The flyertalk people were all using non-advance purchase rate, so maybe the advance purchase rate is the secret sauce?

I guess with your positive dp I will just have to try it for myself and see...

I can confirm that it does credit with a flexible reservation. I've stayed at the property a few times to use my credit. I usually book a flexible rate. Call up and ask to pay. They'll email you a link and you pay via the link. Maybe those on FT are impatient or something but usually it took 4-5 days for it credit me back.

At least if it's a flexible rate and it doesn't credit, you can get a refund for it.

Pro tip: you can make two separate bookings and ask to pre-pay between the two statement periods. i.e. 2 nights and prepay 1 in June and another in July. then you can use all your credits for a longer stay.

Book 4 day stay
Pay for day 1 as advance purchase
Credit? Great - book day 2-3 as advance purchase, then book day 4 in 2nd half of year all as advance purchase
No credit? Sad :( - book day 2, 3 and 4 as flexible, call to make deposit, then pay rest when checking out.

The things I will do to save like $10 USD on the advance purchase rate...

I need to spend some time to understand how to use my credits for Gold, Surpass and Aspire to the best of my abilities :)
