Strategy to obtain US Amex

Same happened to me before and I never received the email. I called again and they told me to upload the docs in the link provided by @djchuckles above.

Just use that and upload what they requested. Wait a few days and if no response, wait a few more days or call to follow up about the docs if you are eager.
thanks, so perhaps the letter was you've been approved subject to uploading those docs. Will upload later today and see what comes later in the week.

Gift cards from Qantas Marketplace do too.
I tried to buy albeit MasterCards from the marketplace and they told me they were points redemption only. Which GCs will they sell you? I’m interested in this route before the currency gets even lower than it is and the multipliers don’t help as much as a result.

The cash equivalent cards can only be purchased using points

The retailer specific cards (inc TCN style multi retailer) can be bought with cash.

One more thing, a mate of mine who also has a couple of US cards & has an ITIN. He recently received an email from Amex asking to provide ID and proof of income. What will work for proof of income? For instance, I’ve been quoting the USD equivalent of the income shown on my ATO notice of assessment. Assuming they ask the same of me in a couple of years, my income might be different to what I said as I’m paid by commission. What would happen there? Would Amex just adjust my credit limits to the new provable income or something else? Would that happen with my mate’s cards too or potential for shutdown?

Do you know what he's putting as his income and how much spend he's putting through the cards?

I wonder if this is because he's listing an abnormally high income, or because he's spending many multiples of his income annually?

He didn't say but it sounds like he's put in very high income - apparently $70/$80K per month (not sure which currency that's in though he is wealthier than I am so it may be true but he's texted me so it might not be true) according to his text.

Wow, sounds like a prime candidate for FR!

Just did my $7 top up on Dunkin - worked fine via Apple Pay
Thanks, I got it to work in the end, but reminded me it’s a new month - so just done it again, no issues at all this time.

I buy Woolies GCs, just for the multiplier and the fact I’ll use them for certain anyway, so don’t really lose as long as I pay the USD back quickly.

One of the two/three big local companies. TCN produce the Him, Her etc cards you see in ColesWorth. The other big ones are BHN and One4All I think
but ColesWorth don’t report L3 data, so Amex et al don’t know exactly what you’ve bought. In fact same with QF, buying them from Marketplace counts as airfare. ColesWorth use HSBC for the supermarket multiplier.

Tried to search but no real answers - I have seen on FM - Chase Business Checking has a $500 SUB to open and hold cash - looking through application form it seems can take ITIN and states what ID for Non Resident (Passport/CC/bank statement etc) - don't need the bank account but wondering if Opening the Business checking will assist in opening INK cards down the line - any DP on this?

Interesting. Might have a crack. Whats the amount/hold for the $500?
