Actually it is very relevant.

It is ridiculous how a flight on a certain day is priced based on the starting point. A HKG-SYD economy flight end of April is ~$500 if the outbound flight is a week or 2 earlier but if purchased with an outbound flight SYD-HKG on 26 December then this same flight is well over $1000.

It would be interesting to know if anyone on the aircraft not travelling together has paid the same price for the seat.

Sydney morning herald yesterday advertising CX Y+ to HKg at $1600 or thereabouts, and LHR $3111. Travel to 7 December. Is Qantas responding?

Very tempting considering VA is Y and Y+ mixed class at about the same.

Note the sale fare is posted as ending 08 Aug. Will be interesting to see what the non-sale fare is. Note also that QF has Y+ only on SYD-HKG and CX is offering (eventually) on all the Aussie-HKG routes.

Has a non-SYD-centric airline finally appeared?
