Because I don't know if your luggage would get checked through.. the FJ booking site will also book it as QF267 as well.. And I don't know if they could..

I've not tried it so I can't comment if you'd get a JQ pass from the transfer desk..

I generally do not travel with checked baggage so that would not be a problem. I do know QF can issue JQ BPs as they do it for me at Adl when I fly to Bkk via Mel.

This is hit and miss. I've had them issue BP for JQ35 in the past and other times flat out refuse to. Many here can attest to that.

In doing this will you need to clear customs at the first international arrival point and re-check-in for the JQ international flight (bummer) or can you just follow the transit walkway to the international boarding area and the FLounge escalator to the nice and hot showers (yes please)?

Why the mention of one itinerary? Surly the international Transfer desk in Syd or Mel will issue the other BP (say for JQ35) from the confirmed flight booking printout?

It's just if you fancy collecting and rechecking your luggage and considering that you cannot recheck-in at JQ until 3 hours before your flight, you might be hanging on to your luggage for a while.

So if you have luggage a single itin might be useful! If you have hand luggage only, of course it should be different.

Why tricky? Just get the arrivals international Transfer desk to issue the JQ35 BP and take the lift one floor up. Ok I have not done it YET but why would it be tricky as there would be others doing transit via the Mel or Syd international terminal?

i could be wrong but that part is classed as a domestic flight so whether it works or not I don't know. But personally I'd rather book it all on the one ticket, then I don't need to collect a BP at all. I could go straight there. I should be issued both BP's in Nadi.. I don't see why you'd want to book it separately when it can be booked on one ticket.

I just checked on the Air Pacific web site and can not find one that links with the Tue QF 81 Syd/Adl international flight. They all link to flights from the domestic Syd terminal to Adl.

As for the Syd international transfer desk and JQ 35 BPs, they must be issuable as that flight is bookable internationally and is there for others to book if booking per sector tickets as I do quite a bit.

Sorry, I was referring to JQ35 with FJ911. It can be done but i have only looked up that flight, not QF81. I suspect you could book QF81 separately if you wanted to go direct.. and the times suited too.

Could anybody suggest how this might or might not work with LA801 arriving into SYD from AKL at 07.10 on a Saturday (assuming the flight runs, of course!) ;)

Onward flight = SYD-MEL via JQ35.

1. What time does the Syd F Lounge Open (? 0430)
2. Could LA801 and JQ35 be ticketed together (to avoid having to wait for JQ check in to open at midday to secure a D boarding pass)
3. If doable, that's (potentially) a long time in the F Lounge - could get a bit boring.
4. If not doable, that's a long wait between 7am and midday!

Thoughts?

Remember there is a QF codeshare (267 i think). If you could get them on the same PNR then you should get both BP's., you'd clear immigration in MEL not SYD.

I learnt the other day that you don't get BPs checked all the time at International Transfers. So *technically* you may be able to arrive Ex-LHR (for example), then "transfer" through security back to departures. You should then have access to the F lounge based on "same day" flight.

There are many issues with doing this, so I don't recommend it (first one is getting back out of the airport from departures, F lounge possibly refusing entry, and a myriad of others). But I raise it as an academic point for others to ponder.

The "Same Day" rule doesn't apply for International Lounges. You must have an onward flight to access the lounge.

Next onward flight must be on a Qantas, Jetstar Airlines[SUP]+[/SUP] or oneworld flight number.[SUP]#
[/SUP]One guest allowed and must be travelling with the member.

Sorry I was talking about SYD-MEL..

That's useful in itself!

So... would you suggest I need a TA (we use FCM at work) to book the LA and JQ flights and to link them as a QF codeshare?

Haven't considered this before so apologies in advance if it's a straightforward Q&A.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but I was wondering how practical it would be to use the SYD F lounge on arrival before transferring to an onward domestic booking (thus satisfying the "next onward flight" rule).
I will be travelling with carry-on only, so luggage being left on the carousel isn't an issue.

Nice thought but not possible. On arrival you will be directed to either immigration or the transfer desk. Unless you pass through the latter and are a OWE or F pax boarding a Qantas or One world flight then you wont get into the F lounge.

So you can't get back to the "general" area of the airport on arrival unless you have an international transfer? Guess that kills that idea then :(
