SYD to JFK in J with CX - flight report

Sydney to Hong Kong flight fair. Cathay is solid but definitely not spectacular. Seat is ordinary. Entertainment system poor. Service level adequate. Bottom line is if I was paying full fare for this I'd be disappointed. As an award flight it's fair.

Still have the HKG to JFK leg to go.

Breakfast and lunch. I had the dim sum for breakfast and the beef for lunch. Nearly missed lunch as I had my eye man on and didn't hear the usual ruckus associated with the meal service.

Go to Pier J (gate 65).....much better than Wing J!

On route very soon. Must admit I got lost and I've been here several times before!

Pretty much my thoughts on CX J. You’ll get slightly more modern seat and IFE to JFK but it doesn’t change the fact their product is very ordinary. Never understood why many rate their J so highly.

Made it to The Pier. For those that have never been to HKG airport you have no idea how big it is. 10,000 steps from arrival gate (no3) to The Pier (gate no 65).

Trying to hydrate after the 16 drinks consumed on flight. Think I wasn't far from being cut off!

The Pier pretty empty. But just had one of the best laksa' s ever.

Lucky it takes USB's. The US charger I have definitely would not work here.

Flight in about 1 hr so shower time beconed. I prefer the showers in The Pier. I've found some of the others very steamy.

Headed to gate in about 30 mins time for the JFK leg. 15 more hrs to come!

Delayed! This has often been my experience with CX flights to the US. Expect we will make the time up in the air. At least I hope so as the flight already arrived very late in the evening.
