SYD - Tripoli

I have a colleague who needs to return to Tripoli at Christmas to see aged parents and then on to Rome. I've tried a couple of searches but Tripoli does not come up. Anyone have any suggestions please?

That's pretty difficult at the moment with the situation over there. I think the old international airport fell victim to a terrorist attack as well. Your friend is probably well aware of how tricky it is to get there, but I found this Smartraveller.gov.au - Libya and it only lists exit options for the time being, not exit.

Thanks. I'm just waiting to see if a good travel agent is able to make suggestions. It will be interesting to see if he and his partner and 2 children actually make it in and out again. He is strongly motivated to see the olds for the last time.

Yeah, totally understand. Must be tough having family in such a conflicted part of the world. I'm sure it's possible, just a huge risk I suppose. Good luck to them though!

I am 'in conversation' with serfty's TA now, thanks serfty. We'll see how we go. Slight complication may be that according to smarttraveller, Tripoli a/port is closed.
