Sydney Airport announces overhaul for T2 Domestic

July School Holidays will be fun.

The whole terminal is a disgrace and should be demolished and rebuilt.

Western Sydney is going to be an eye opener compared to the trash heap that is T2.

I simply can't imagine this. Both areas can be 'beyond a zoo' crowded (like I went though last Sunday); together, it'll be awful.
I think they'll move more staff downstairs to the temporary desks near the baggage claim, they are hardly used but are setup with kiosks and bag drop possible for both VA/JQ.

Also.
  • From 8 April, Rex and FlyPelican flights will depart from T3 Domestic terminal
Wonder what Rex will do for those with lounge access?

Just saw some news feed on this… 10 mins from kerb to airside.

TBH in the 50+ departures from T2 in the last 12 months it’s never taken me more than that anyway. Granted that usually with hand baggage only, But even checking in a bag it’s been pretty quick and security as well.

I suspect the ‘enhanced facilities’ means more retail ‘opportunities’ for pax to spend money on?

I mean what’s the incentive here? It’s not like the airport has any competition. You either have to fly, or you don’t.

So great, we can all get through in 10 mins. And then spend longer while VA schedules 35 min turnarounds that are completely unrealistic, or we can still in already overflowing lounges or gate lounges?

$200 million presumably to be passed on to passengers somehow.

We needed more security lanes if anything, that’s all.

And how do they propose to speed up delivery of bags from the plane to those waiting on arrival?

With how empty T3 check in is, you'd think they would be better off having an overflow for Jetstar to check in there instead of bunking in with VA.
