I flew LAX > MEL 4.5 years ago (just before COVID) on QF - it was on a tired A380, there was gaffer tape on panels, the IFE system was dated, the carpet was worn out and the seats were well past their ideal replacement time. It was my 2nd time on an A380 and I wasn't impressed on both occasions (other was on EK back in 2012).

I got seats 79H and 79J (paid USD$280 (USD$140/ea) for the privilege) - whilst it was good that there was virtually unlimited legroom and no one in front of us for the 14-15hr trip, the flipside was that I lost count on how many people bumped my foot / leg whilst they walked past.

If I ever did another US trip, it would be in Premium Economy minimum if not business. Don't think I can do economy again for 12hrs+ 😂

At the time though, we burnt all our QFF points going to the US on CX in business from HKG to EWR, so all we could afford was economy at the time coming back. 😂
