I don't think it's just overfried. It must be cured a different way or something.

Horrible stuff

How sick was it before it was cured? ;)

Vegemite is of course the Australian classic.

Milo or decent drinking chocolate was near impossible in the US but very easy to find in Asia.

. Panadol (the pharmacies have no idea what you're talking about - and their databases don't give the equivalent USA name)
. Jugs - to make a hot cuppa the Australian way. They think that warm water is OK.

Agree with Blu-Tack...........best invention ever, the Yanks have nothing close to it.

Gumption - if you use it here, make sure you take it with you. Any regular users will know what I mean.

Any chocolate from here is better than the US - but you have to take back Caramello Koalas, Cherry Ripes and Minties.

Vegemite of course (but don't bother if you never eat it).

Wouldn't it just be Tylenol?

Codeine based OTC pain medication. I've heard that you can get in trouble for taking it into LOTFAP though :(

You can buy Codeine based OTC pain medication (Nurofen Plus) on the US so not sure why they would baulk at you bringing it in!

I have to agree with the bacon, it's just horrible.

I find when your in the US and buying drugs (that's pharmaceuticals people!) it's easier to use the actual drug name (ibuprofen, paracetamol, etc)

One thing you cant buy over the counter is Buscopan, which drew a blank stare from the Pharmacist. I forgot to pack it.

You can't buy Smarties, and I don't like M&Ms. It's like Coke vs Pepsi.

And try to find somewhere that you can get a side order of steamed vegies.

1) Cheese - they don' thave quality cheese, just that melted orange gooey stuff

The most of cheese that I see over there is either Cheddar or Jack.... you might find Swiss around (everyone knows Swiss cheese), but I'd say you'd have to find a good deli to get any other kind of cheese.

Decent coffee.

Definitely agreed. Hard enough to get a decent espresso (or espresso-based) coffee over there, and Starbucks is, well, Starbucks (it ain't better just because you're in its motherland). I don't mind the drip coffee really, but it's often way too weak! Even societies with closet coffee drinking novices have it stronger than most Americans do. Definitely miss a good coffee in America... and standard tea selection sometimes, too (for example, staying at The Westin all they had was Starbucks flavoured tea).

I had a BBQ in Texas once and for some reason the meat fell away from the bone a bit too easily for my liking. It also had a texture like it was crushed up suitable for someone with false teeth to eat, then somehow reconstituted into the original meat on the bone. And the BBQ sauce that went with it - too much sugar, needed more kick - you might as well have put syrup.

Meat Pie in SF and Canada my 2 year old wanted one........couldn't find 1......had to make homemade

Unless you've been to the very first Starbucks in Seattle..they actually made a decent coffee in there. Where did they go wrong??

Having moved to Australia from the UK I really miss pickled onion monster munch.

I always bring some back when I go back ironically it seems to make it faster through customs, I go through the declare goods lane they ask me what I have (way before the desks) & every time so far wave me through

+1 on Sam Adams Draught

If you want good 'tasty' (& sugarless) bread, go to Whole Foods, they are all over the place

There are plenty of sugar-less foods…. just harder to find (having Diabeetus you would know this)

Wilford Brimley Diabeetus Remix - YouTube

And whilst I am a huge fan of the new/improved Old Spice stick BO basher sticks, in the past I
have never had an issue finding spray deodorants (Albertsons, Target, Walmart, etc).

Every trip I make to Ohio usually involves a minimum of 20 packs of assorted Tim Tam packs

Oh…. and Darrell Lea original soft liquorice if you can find any (when our 2 local-ish DL retail stores closed
I purchased every pack that was there at the time…) My friend in Seattle has an addiction for that stuff

There are plenty of "market" style places in most major USA cities now where you can buy a good selection of cheeses. Central Market is one such chain in many Texas locations.
