2 Velocity members (since 2008). International flights every year. Domestic flights every year. Economy/Premium/Business class, you name it.

We got nothing. Haven't had a promotional email since......I don't know. But our most recent $5,000 expense was from booking flights a few days before the promotion, so I guess they think we're a given.

Instead of targeted emails, why can't Virgin sneak into this chat room and collate a list of all genuinely interested and participating Velocity members who fly often - and automatically offer these deals via a link on the home page of our thread?

We spend more time here, helping one another to fly Virgin exclusively - than we probably should. But it's a passion for many of us and a delightfully convenient way to sell Virgin to new members. I would dare to suggest this free exposure deserves some recognition.

(I hope someone at Velocity or VA is reading this right now)..........

Double SC for me. Have a few legs to book so works out perfect for me.

Same here Clipped_wings. I'm not sure how the algorithm works but I can't recall the last promotional offer I have received from VA. Plenty from FlyBuys and others.

I have 3 domestic flights already booked. I was holding off booking a further couple of domestic and an international that fall within the previously mentioned window but might have the pull the trigger soon regardless. Double SCs would be very useful.

I guess if they offered it openly, it would be a free for all. But the way technology works these days, I'm sure they could limit the link to a discriminating audience, either by way of filters or other discretionary powers.

I think the general consensus of Gold being the more practical status to retain resonates with me as well. My annual expenditure with VA this year will amount to a little over $13,000. Multiply that by 10 years of dedicated loyalty to them - I'm trying my darn hardest to keep status and points churning.

I simply wish they'd throw me a bleeding lifeline - just once.

Does anyone know if the DSC offer can be used if we book our flights through an online agent e.g. American Express travel? I have a credit I want to use, but equally don't want to miss out on the double status credits.

Extra 1000 points offer here.

I’m current gold and have been sitting around 900 status credits for the last few months. Double SC would have seen me over the line to platinum.

Platinum of 4-5 years here and nothing, no double sc or double points :( funny, I first made it to Platinum off a double SC promo then I was hooked to stay ever since. I have never received a targeted double status credits promo, I have only used the public ones.

My Mum who is red and hardly ever travels received a double points promo.

They are totally clueless in recent years. And lost all direction and all momentum. Qantas is killing them in all areas.

The new head of Velocity was head of Amex for years, and sadly none of the savvy things they have been doing have filtered thru.

I'd have booked two x Biz tix to USA at $13,000 on the double SC as they'd have been handy - just gave the money to a competitor.

Idiots.

Qantas is killing them in all areas.

I could not disagree more with this statement.

I can not think of a single reason why (as an ex QF P1) I would want to fly QF (unless they are the only option).

To answer your question yes, they do. I received the Status Credit email a few or so back and can only assume I must have clicked on the Activate button.

I forgot all about it, and I had a return trip to Adelaide for Elevate outbound and Freedom return which should have yielded 15/25 respectively. To my surprise I received today 30 and 50 SC's.

I rarely book more than one flight at a time or too far in advance but for some reason (not this) I booked 3 of the same flights. All 3 flights were booked by the corporate AMEX travel (which has my VFF # stored).

Whilst all the extra SC's are well and good and makes me click over to Gold retention quicker than expected, they are sort of no man lands points as once I've retained gold (at the end of the 3rd return trip in 2 weeks), I'll be flicking my travel back to Qantas to start the retention of Gold there. (I only have short trips to earn SC with a couple on Internationals tossed in)

I rest my case. The offer has gone to people like yourself (with all due respect) who probably won't capitalize the resulting SC and points.

Virgin, I am right here - waving, not drowning!

I can think of three ...
  1. One World
  2. Life time status
  3. Business lounges
However QF are certainly not killing them in all areas imho, but it's a personal thing I guess.

  1. Meh. Ex PER, non-Oneworld airlines offer equal or better coverage and service at a cheaper price.
  2. Even though I am already LTG, lifetime status is really only a possibility for <1% of all FF in any case.
  3. Meh again. If Dom J access was completely free it may be a positive. However, as QF is generally more expensive than the opposition, I would rather pocket the thousands of dollars a year in savings and slum it in the VA lounge...

As I suggested, it is a personal thing and even though those three items don't appeal directly to you, they are still factors where QF are beating VA.
I can also list factors where VA are beating QF. I also tend to buy QF and VA tix at about the same rate, give or take from both sides, so price is neither here nor there as far as I'm concerned.

just keep in mind the dsc may kick in 5 weeks later for those thinking about scraping through.

No SC or points offer but apparently Im missed and got a $50 voucher offer.

I flew twice with them in Dec.

I got the 2 x SC email.

But forgot to activate it - I'd booked 2 flights to Sydney today before I realised.

I've activated it now by clicking on the button that the email takes you to.

So not sure if those flights are eligible. I called Velocity, the lady I spoke with said yes (after being on hold while she found out) but she didn't really seem to be 100% sure.

Any idea if I've screwed this up?

So it ends tomorrow 1 Feb at midnight? Am waiting on a final happy hour tomorrow to make a booking as I forgot about this. I've got a long way to go to Gold this year and this is the only way I'll have a hope. Since they halved cheapskate fare SCs I've been in trouble. Need a US trip and some Delta flights on that generous SC plan.
