Thai Airways

Your memory hasn’t failed you, yet.

Do we know which routes these babies fly? Despite the retro vibes and shivers down my spine of Skybed MkII, the LATAM 2x2 seats don’t look bad at all and are undoubtedly a step ahead of their 773 biz product.
Those are actually superbly good seats! They lack privacy, yes. But everything else is pretty much as good as you could ask for. Fully forward, no little nooks to have to slot your feet into. Wide. No problems with droop like Skybed II because the end of the bed is fixed.

These seats are better than those carriers selling the front row of business as some sort of business ‘suite’ or poor first class, as both of those still lose some width because of the footwell from the seat behind.

Can anyone who has miles check if there is reward seat available bkk -mel around 20th July 24 ? Any ideas why there is no availability on star alliance partners for Thai on this route around this time ? Any tips ?

End of uni holidays for some unis, peak European outbound travel period, only 5 weeks away... . It's a while since I've followed TG availability, but in my experience it needed to be searched many months in advance.

I was looking at TG redemptions SYD - BKK on Life miles for a while for December 9th to 15th this year i thought it unlikely and so it appeared. In March i began looking at how thing were looking in April -yes another school holiday time. but i went back and looked at December again and their were many dates with 2 J awards plus until the end of January coming back from BKK.. And I was able to ticket them and see them on the TG site. They must have just dumped a couple of months of J redemptions. Since then I only see Y awards.

I've been finding (using lifemiles) a week or less out tends to also have reasonable availability. 5 weeks is never a good time. It's got to be 5 months or more or 5 days. Or that order of magnitude.

Is there any partner airline where it’s easier to snag a Thai air reward seat ? Thanks for your response .

I notice during booking UA aren't listed as an option for adding your FF details. Options shown are...

It must be somewhere else. Friends booked Thai last week and put their aeroplan number into the booking. (or a temporary website glitch!)

Booked last night in the end. Left the FF blank during the booking process. Now while you can edit the pax details, the FF fields are non-editable. I guess a phone call is in order.

The Thai website is horrible. Looks like it was last updated in the late 1990s. They also charge 2.3% Amex surcharge . Still worth paying with Amex though with the $250 cash back on offer.

I see what you mean. On the thai site - as opposed to the aussie home page - you can enter any star alliance FF number! But not when booking using Australia.

Can you access your booking through say lufthansa or another star partner to enter your FF number that way? (oddly enough the thai site was the only one that would allow me to select seats on an Air Canada issued itinerary for carriers including VA and Egyptair!)

Can't access my booking using UA, LH or SQ's websites. What a PITA.
