The Amazing Race Australia

I notice a question that asks you "if you have ever travelled outside Australia?" and if so "which countries you have travelled to?" Knowing that some of the entertainment value of the show lies in the inexperience of most of the teams, that they would prefer those who haven't travelled too far. And thereby disqualifying quite a few AFF'ers:!:

I liked the idea of entering, but:
1) Can't disappear for 5 weeks
2) Love the traveling but i'd HATE all the running around, heavy lifting etc as am not an athletic person by any means here :lol:

On channel 9 though, the Come Fly With Me sounds like it could be bad, it should be funny but I am not sure how it is going to perform in the Australian market.
A friend in the UK recorded all the come fly with me series 1 and sent it to me,I loved it but you have to like the Brit sense of humour,if you like Little Britain you will love it but if not you will probably hate it.
Cheers

True, to compete with what Seven has, either way it’s only 6 episodes.
And six was about enough. While it was funny, there are only so many episodes one can make around the same characters with the same jokes.

If you'll pardon the pun ;)

BBC have confirmed it has been signed for a second series, so it'll be interesting to see if it's the same Characters or if they up and move to another airport and change them.

BBC - BBC One Programmes - Come Fly With Me for anyone interested in the show; and i'll return it back to TARA now :)

Must say Little Britain was getting stale for me but then Little Britain USA upped the ante and got me back.

Didn't mind come fly with me - but like Little Britain - it gets stale pretty quickly - they never seem to be able to add much depth to their characters. Enjoyed the F class flight attendant the most.

As a big fan of the US version looking forward to the Amazing Race Australia though - only problem is Australian TV doesn't often have the necessary production values or budget to pull this type of show off.

That will be very interesting. I still remember the australian survivor*, where the challenges were actually hard. Those poor sods on the edge of the southern ocean in south Australia firing flame arrows at a pile of wood and they hit it at least 3 times and it still didn't catch fire. Did no one realise that the US version uses petrol for these challenges. Or maybe they couldn't afford it.

* old story warning

The ads have seemed pretty good.

The contestants I'm not so sure about, but I guess we'll see.

When this thread keeps popping up and I see this comment.

So Straitman... are you admitting you're an old fart???

I'd go on it with you... just have to put you through bootcamp before going!!!

And the timing is interesting from this thread from FT.

I thought Bill may have used some mod powers to edit the above post.

Have been watching the previews for the Australian Amazing Race and I am looking forward to it.

BB you are a cruel and heartless person :!:

I actually prefer the Amazing Race Asia series, the four seasons of that have been great including a couple of Aussie all girl teams in the mix as well.

I am looking forward to the Aussie one, my daughter who is now in the Navy wants me to try and get in the race with her as a Dad and Daughter team. Would be excellent.

Amazing race is one of my favorite shows. It's referred to as a reality show, but I see it more of a grand game show with a reality twist due to the interesting characters selected to compete.

The Aussie promos mentions the series goes to Europe, SE Asia, Middle East, but no America.

Either looking forward to it.
