It only took us 10 years....... but we made it from end to end.








Annnnnd another ferry, this time from Thurso to Orkney Islands. I had been up here just a year prior with our daughter (see SSSSS tour trip report) I knew my husband would just love this part of the world..... so here I am back again.

Sail then from Kirkwall to Lerwick

A drive to the very top of the Islands and slowly make our way back down south.

I really HATE these TRs of the Scottish Islands ... I think you did one a couple of years ago as well? I've been to Scotland maybe 6 times, but always for family history research; lots of times in libraries, archives and graveyards, and mainly in Edinburgh and Aberdeenshire. Never got out to the boonies (except via these TRs ).

Overnight Northlink ferry from Lerwick to Aberdeen.
We had been to Rosslyn Chapel 10 years prior, they had just started renovations, now just another tourist stop.

Next stop was Southhampton, where we took a day trip to Jersey. We love the Durrell Wildlife Conservation Park, this is our 2nd visit.

I posted a rely right at the beginning but somehow the post didn't stick (obviously something the operator did wrong ). A great read - lots of places I know reasonably well and it's such fun to see them again in a TR; other places are ones we have on the list, so again it's great to see the pictures. I can think of few places better for eternal rest than where your dear friend chose.
Thanks for posting, even though you did the trip some time ago. It's all interesting.

Next day was Bayeux Tapestry, no photos allowed, but this is outside the museum.



My husband did the day trip to Flanders, but the camera decided it did not want to play ball that day, so no photos.

Next day the ship was back at Southampton, we drove up to Heathrow and had an afternoon flight to Helsinki for a 2 night stay.
