Best: Home. Seems ridiculous that I pay for a house I only see for a few months a year.
Worst: Gotta go with the crowd on this one and say Port Moresby, although some of the smaller West Australian towns give it a pretty good run for its money.

Best? Anywhere I'm on holiday...except Adelaide...

Worst? At sea...Persian Gulf... 17 January 1991!

Resurrected thread - cause I found it interesting :) Mine are a little bit more eclectic than others - ex-occupational hazard.

Best:
Port Moresby - don't believe everything you here, get out from behind the razor wire and you will find some of the most amazing people in the world. (expat live here and love it)
Djibouti - only got attempted robbed once, when I was expecting more :) but had a hellova great time here when I was younger with some Legionnaires on leave
Rarotonga - just because I like chilling out
Niue - just because I like chilling out :)

Worst:
Goa - Sadly was there in torrential monsoon, no bars were open - and I swear the dead cat outside the restaurant made it onto my plate. I have to go back one day :)
Piraeus - Some part of it were amazing, others...! One night, found myself in a dodgy cinema - that I had to leave VERY fast... wasn't my scene.
Wellington - really? a great place? Only good to catch the ferry to the South Island

I will back you up on Port Moresby though my experience was a long time ago.I stayed at the Salvation Army hotel in Koki and would catch the bus into town. When i came back from the Solomons I stayed with a friend of my fathers in the commonwealth compound on Koki hill. The first day I said i would just go into town and was asked how I would get there.I said walk down the hill and catch the bus.Way too dangerous I was told so the chauffeur took me into town. When walking around there the locals would come up and shake my hand or slap me on the back and if anyone asked why they would say him fella who catchim bus.And this was 6 weeks after my first visit.
The old story as FDR said-the only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

It has a lot to do with when you visit, and if you share great experiences.

Best, France 2006. My wife and I will go back.

Worst, New York back before Giuliani cleaned it up. It was like a constant Hill Street Blues episode but it is fine now.

Best:
Hallstatt, Austria - an absolutely magical place with hills falling down into a beautiful lake. You generally know it's good if you use it for your desktop picture and have for the last 5 years...
Honourable mentions to Vienna, Rarotonga, Darwin and Bruges (is this the first sentence in history to have both Darwin and Bruges in it?)

Worst:
Cairo - complete dump. See the Giza plateau and then get out as fast as you can!
then daylight, then
Karratha
Miami International Airport

Best: Capetown, For any reason you can imagine. It was just perfect.

Worst: Wales, went all the way there and didn't see a single one! ;-)

Hi Scarlett

I googled Darwin and Bruges and there was a lot of sentences with the two places mentioned. As for Cairo I just arrived back from 3 weeks in Jordan and Egypt and it was great the museum in Cairo was amazing the people great lot's to see. I did do it all with A&K with a private driver and guide but I loved the place.

Its funny how we each see things in such a different way, our perspective on thing to do with travel always amazes me . one of the things I like about this forum the diversity of opinions.

I also looked up Hallsatt and will now put it on my list of places to go.

thank you for your input.
