The Best Part of Flying?

Everything!

But if I had to pick one out, it's staring at a 380 from the aerobridge and wondering how the hell that thing gets off the ground! (Even after 30+ flights on them!)

I do enjoy the take off and landings, but I have to say that having a nice bourbon and watching a movie is probably my favourite part. :-)

Fifth bourbon (after wine with dinner), about 3 hrs into SCL-SYD flight, sitting in QF after a year away from the homeland, in J with noone beside me, upperdeck, listening to great song whilst staring out window at unending sunset over Antartic ice.

Bliss.

You AFFers will think less of me, but the best bit is getting off the plane at the end of the flight!

First class lounge in SYD/MEL.
It can even make a JQ flight enjoyable (after a few glasses of champagne, red and dessert wine) :)

Turning left at the end of the air bridge !

Do you mean to say a right turn is possible ? Well, I never...:p.

Maybe you need to consider how some people fly?

Getting into my pyjamas while the FA makes up my bed.

And knowing there will be either another glass of bubbles or baileys waiting on the little table on my return from changing.

The morning of the beginning of the trip is quite exciting.

Don't get me wrong I still love flying but at some point when I reach the airport the sense of familiarity comes in and it starts to become routine. Sometimes I am asleep before take off especially if we push back and wait 10-15 minutes for take off.

And I do love the landings. Approaching cities such as SIN, BKK, HKG, SYD at night time is a truly beautiful sight. The lights to me are amazing. And then the feeling as we are about to land is difficult to explain where the wheels are still in the air and the anticipation of the wheels touching the ground and then touch down.

I enjoy watching the excitement in children's faces as they board their first flight - likely off on some sort of Holliday and the memories it brings back of my fist few times flying. TO's are good and the FLounge. I love sitting up the front when Qantas get it right.

Most bigger cities with lights during the night look alike, to me. But with SYD I recognise familiar points. One that stands out is NYC. I was on QF from LAX and the airplane flew alongside Manhattan, maybe over Hudson River before making left turn towards JFK. That approach was special.

Best bit is when the engines whirl at the top of the runway and seeing my 14month old daughter spring to life... It's the face of fear and excitement in one...

Unfortunately after that you spend the next 90 minutes praying that she can have a nap instead screaming the plane down...

Admiring the piloting skills when deviating the typhoon conditions on the second landing attempt.
The deluxe soft products are always a bonus nowadays.
