Do you understand a sense of needing herd immunity or do you only see that your want to travel to UK at Xmas time.Way too high targets. This is a plan to keep families apart till after the election.
UK likely has herd immunity because covid went rampant. Maybe we just should have engaged in a Darwin theory and got it over and done with last year. Shame on you for berating someone who wants to see their family having already missed some of their family members important events. Family is all we have.Do you understand a sense of needing herd immunity or do you only see that your want to travel to UK at Xmas time.
Seems the latter.
I think that is way too pessimistic - I was quite happy with the targets and to be honest can’t see how they can be anything less.Way too high targets. This is a plan to keep families apart till after the election.
Not sure my post clarifies as a berating.UK likely has heard immunity because covid went rampant. Maybe we just should have engaged in a Darwin theory and got it over and done with last year. As I have said before, it is more selfish to refuse to promptly vaccinate when you have an opportunity than to want to see one's family in a 2 year period. Not sure my post clarifies as a berating.
Don't have to see our family every year or every 2nd year.
I too have family in Europe & friends there that I'd love to see soon, and I will again in couple years.
Some better at dealing with the reality of the times rather than constantly whinging about it & coming across as selfish by putting their needs or more so, wants above others like their community & country as a whole.
Haha oh my, do you even know what family is?Your friends/family must be young and healthy - mine might be dead in another year.
71 % in the UK fully vaccinated and nearly 90% with a first jab, so they will be reaching that quite soon.I like to think I can be optimistic, but 80% fully vaccinated later this year is a stretch when other nations haven‘t hit that mark.
People have had plenty of time to get their first dose, so if they want to hit the targets quickly they need to provide both carrot and stick now or imminently.
We are all different with different needs and none are better nor worse than others. Unlike you, many need to physically connect with their family as often as possible. Likely you are so much younger than me. I've been through a life threatening issue and still have challenges. I have a high risk of stroke. Or brain bleed from the medication I take to prevent that. I don't have years of overseas travel left in me where I can be safely insured. Two years have been removed because of Covid. I don't know if I can't take another year. Not sure my post clarifies as a berating.

My thoughts are with you & know you'll enjoy 2022 hellova lot better than 2021.We are all different with different needs and none are better nor worse than others. It’s hard - Mr FM and I are talking ourselves into the idea we may never travel again. I have had a stroke, also on blood thinners. Was just starting to resolve how to get travel insurance when COVID hit. Went to the USA in May 2019 without pre existing condition insurance and just crossed my fingers and hoped. But it will all resolve - at least we know what the goal posts are. Everyone just needs to advocate with everyone they know or even vaguely come across to get vaccinated….We are all different with different needs and none are better nor worse than others. It’s 80% of eligible not 80% of population so other countries (eg the UK) HAVE met this mark. It’s all about how you define eligible!I like to think I can be optimistic, but 80% fully vaccinated later this year is a stretch when other nations haven‘t hit that mark.

Uk is 71% of adult population fully vaccinated and a bit under 90% with one jab (according to the official UK Covid site)It’s 80% of eligible not 80% of population so other countries (eg the UK) HAVE met this mark. It’s all about how you define eligible!
And with increasing supply and delivery mechanisms (e.g. pharmacies): we could actually do a fair bit better than that.Recent survey referred to by Federal Health Minister that 77% intended to get a covid vaccine.
At the current daily rate, Australia could reach 80% in 17.5 weeks.
