While it's not a race see that NSW has now leapfrogged both the NT and Victoria in terms of first doses. It's amazing what a lockdown (and the promise that if we get enough people vaccinated we might get out of it) can do to incentivise people.
Yeah, it's a shame the limitations of a forum, I was trying to be ironic there!. For me it clearly should be a race to get to the stage so many countries are now either at or nearly so while we remain locked down or locked in depending on your state.Probably a pity that it is not a race as we probably would have had a lot more people vaccinated..

I had my first AZ over 4 weeks ago as someone in 2B in Victoria. Yes it’s just a little more difficult than it is now in NSW (as have to go to a GP in VIC) and harder than it should be, but not that difficult. Just have to go and see a GP for a consult, get them to book an appointment for the vaccine and then get the jab.NSW really should be able to win this race hopefully given anyone 18+ can access a vaccine right now! Not the same in other states…. Hopefully this will change soon.
That gives some hope of the first 1 million dose work week this week.

I don’t know if anyone has commented on this - haven’t noticed it. But Queensland has jumped from averaging 34,000 vaccinations on a week day, to 44,000 yesterday. Hope this is a trend!

Just looking at covidlive and Qld is higher than VicI don’t know if anyone has commented on this - haven’t noticed it. But Queensland has jumped from averaging 34,000 vaccinations on a week day, to 44,000 yesterday. Hope this is a trend!
How pathetic. And our (QLD) Health Minister is now rinsing the Feds in the media for not getting an extra 150,000 AZ doses here quick smart…. After weeks of our anti-AZ vax rhetoric and garbage, we are suddenly screeching that we want more AZ and YESTERDAY
Seriously you could not make this stuff up…

QLD Health Minister blasts Hunt over extra Astra-Zeneca delay
Queensland Health Minister Yvetter D’Ath has taken aim at the Commonwealth over its delay delivering extra vaccines to the state.
Ms D’Ath said she was “doing everything possible” to fast-track vaccines to the state, after the Commonwealth advised it would be delivering extra AstraZeneca next week.
“The Commonwealth has got these vaccines already. They offered them a couple of days ago, so we would hope that that 150,000 vaccines can arrive earlier than next week,” Ms D’Ath said.
“But I don’t think it’s acceptable that (pharmacies) have to wait until next week to wait for the Commonwealth to deliver those vaccines and those consumables when they have got it in supply now and we ask them to be delivered as soon as possible because the sooner we start getting these vaccines in people’s arms, the safer those individuals become and the safer our community becomes.
Chilling Delta Covid-19 statistic for young Australians
Following the death of a 27-year-old Sydney man who had Covid-19, an Australian physician has revealed a chilling statistic about young Aussies getting the Delta variant of the virus.www.news.com.au
How pathetic.

Maybe its a race.
Fair Dinkum!Funny that the PM thought it was a great idea for people to be offered free beer in exchange for vaccination (despite the fact it was against TGA rules).
How pathetic.
The first headline seems to be leveraging off the Lieutenant General's press conference today.Tomorrow's Front Page on the Herald Sun: "Victorian children aged 12 and above to get vaccinated at school from December" - "...at least one dose this year..."
NT News - "$500 Jab Incentive" - "The central land council offering ... a cash incentive ... the first NT business or organisation to offer a financial payment..."
The article does quote him.The first headline seems to be leveraging off the Lieutenant General's press conference today.
Yes all of the QLD ‘leaders’ are now realising they’ve made a terrible terrible mistake re: vaccine scare tactics up here and now it’s deflection time - big time…. 3.5 months until we get rid of our CHO, not that anyone is counting of course
I truly hope the whole of Australia is beginning to see through the mess ATAGI, the likes of Dr Young, the media has made - I do feel the tide is turning, there’s so much buzz on social now to get any jab you can lay your hands on, the young people seem be galvanising now…
"So, this is the time that people who are under age 60 should be talking to their GP about what is best for them.
A statement which highlights both the foolishness of Young's commentary, and the bizarre nature of ATAGI's advice."The ATAGI advice says when you reach a large outbreak — which we're now on the verge of ... then that is the time to go and have that discussion with your GP," Dr Young said.
