The COVID-19 vaccine rollout in Australia has begun

The Commonwealth reported numbers today were 307,090.

However one still has to wonder what happens with the figures on some days.

ie It has the Vic State Channel as 4,011 does today, whereas the Vic Gov has reported that at as 33,611 doses.

Well the PM said "Principally I would see that happening especially through the GP network and that provides the opportunity for family vaccinations."

Just on this and in terms of what will be occurring in Victoria: What the Vic Health Minister said today was that it was his understanding that 12-15s would be primarily through the Commonwealth primary care channel. This channel does include pharmacies. 12-15 may also be able to get Moderna once it is formally improved for them, and so it is possibly that they may get through pharmacies as well.

Foley qualified that by saying that the advice may change after the National Cabinet Meeting today.

Foley stated that the Commonwealth Government vaccine supply in Victoria for the 12-15s would be distributed through the Commonwealth primary care channel as that is what at this point in time the Feds preferred. Therefore if the supply of that cohort is not assigned to the State Channel then they will not be vaccinated through that channel. Foley indicated that there was the capability to do 12-15 year old at state hubs as well if the Feds supplied it.

Note that there are a small number of 12-15 year olds that qualify now for medical reasons and have been getting vaccinated.

We are still playing petty games about supply?

Politicians in this country are unbelievable. Why do they continually stick their foot in it. No on cares about your petty squabbles about who got what any more. Just tell people to get vaccinated wherever they are eligible and can get a dose and be done with it.

I am not sure what you point is?

It really is just logistics and not politics, and the Feds (presumably General Frewen) decide on what doses go where and when and how much to each of the three channels. ie Frewen for example is issuing most of the Moderna via Pharmacists.

There are a lot of 12-15 year olds. It is the Feds who decide how doses get distributed. Once doses are known then booking slots can be opened to that cohort in the applicable booking system.

If the Feds are only going to issue it to say GP's (and Pharmacists?) then that is where their parents will need to book them in. The Vic State Hubs only add booking slots for doses that have a fixed supply date. If the Feds do not supply doses for 12-15s for the State Hubs then they will not add slots.

Foley the Vic Health Minister has no say (and by the way he was not being critical, he was just speaking on the logistics). He had said that the State Hubs can help out, but it is the Feds wo decide what doses go where.

Personally with younger kids I think it makes sense to vaccinate them through smaller facilities, or at schools rather than at big state hubs.

But yes Frewen could just allocate the doses for this cohort to both channels. Though they may want to use some Moderna for it which is not at the State Hubs.

70+ has passed 60% for second doses. QLD also went past that mark for the 70+ age group.

In a few days every age group 40-44 and up may have gone past 40% fully vaccinated.

45-49 have gone past 1 million first doses (the fourth age group to do so) and 60% first doses.

NSW has gone past 50% fully vaccinated for 50+.

Apparently none of the Pfizer from Poland expires until late November

Any facility doing vaccination would use up the doses with the earliest expiry first so there should be no more waste of those doses than any other similar size quantity of Pfizer doses one would think.

Hunt in his presser mentioned hubs and school programs for 12-15s.

If you or anyone that you know in the Sydney Local Health district who needs a Pfizer vaccination, RPA has 100,000 doses they need to use before 31/8. They are having trouble finding enough people to jab in that time period as people have booked elsewhere/ or have taken appointments for the AZ vaccination. Bookings can be made via this link https://vaccination.slhd.nsw.gov.au

Can't find it now, but I found a Tweet that confirmed it as fake news after contacting the hospital....

This has been totally debunked.

This is great news. When I go and see Moulin Rouge in Melbourne next year with all my workmates we don’t want to be sitting next to anti vax morons!

I don't think we should be heading down this path of calling people morons/anti-vaxers etc etc, who don't want to get a vaccine shot for a virus that has a 99% survival rate for under 50's. Next we'll be forcing people who don't want the jab to wear a star....

I like the Florida approach.

If you want to wear a mask, wear one. If not, don't
If you want the jab, get one. If not, don't

What happened to personal freedom?

I've had two Pfizer jabs. I'm not going to force it onto anyone else. I believe in personal freedoms.

If you don't want to wear a seatbelt, don't.
If you want to drive while intoxicated, do.
etc, etc, ...

At some point the health and welfare of other people should impact on individual behaviour.

Is there a prize for the person who has individually done the most to derail the roll out? There’s someone in Qld who must be a front runner.

I know you're being facetious, but I understand this person is actually on track to "win a prize" in early November.. 🤔
