More than the entire ACT population of 70+ has had a first dose (sounds like they're having trouble reconciling who does and doesn't live in the ACT....

The NSW government map seems to be using census data for populations (locally at least)
<10% are vaccinated in the University locations big enough to have their own postcodes.
Conversely, suburbs with recent development have some unexpectedly high rates
Not sure what total NSW population denominator is being used as it's gone up a fair bit in the last 10 years

Indeed. It is a really sad state of affairs. I don't like to tar the brush of everyone who is religious. Certainly not due to the selfish and immature actions of others spreading their personal beliefs about healthcare through the prism of their religious teachings.

The ones doing the most damage in my local community are the yoga/health enthusiasts who are going to enormous lengths to discourage vaccination. The FB page for our suburb has someone totally anti-vax, in her 30s, linking to every conspiracy theory or pseudo-scientific theory going. Here is just one example:

The number of sham experts (in this case someone with not only one, but two PHDs) who spend their time producing totally misleading information that is gobbled up by their receptive audiences keen to build on their own wholistic approach to the natural way is the only way, is just mind boggling.

I hope you keep reporting the posts as false or misleading on Facebook? They do take it pretty seriously, and group admins/moderators are forced to take action to control it, else pages are shut down or otherwise penalised if they don't. We've had a few crazies on our community sites trying the same on, referring to Vitamin C being the hero that will save us from COVID, etc. They didn't last long, and have either stopped, or been booted.

I'm not certain of the specifics, but our LGA community group admin is always stepping in on matters before they get out of hand (just like we see here as well, with our lovely AFF mods!), and they talk to the group being impacted or penalties if they don't manage the issues down.

I hope you reported them. I contributed to someone getting banned from LinkedIn for posting a continuous stream of antivax misinformation. Just keep reporting every bit of guff, and get others to as well. Eventually even Facebook will have to take action. (NB I’m not on Facebook so I don’t know this for sure)
