What's up with all the anti-vaxxers on Anna's FB page saying they are waiting for Novovax? Where is this coming from? No country in the world is using Novovax.

Supposedly, a sub-set of the anti and vax hesitant types are latching on to the fact it is not (?) developed using very new technologies like the others which are offered. It is closer to the more broadly accepted flu vaccination shots, which are protein based. If it helps get a few more people over the line, then great... but there is a risk it is delayed further, or deferred, while the risk for those types increases as things start to open up

Well AZ technology is even older than what Novavax uses so that argument doesnt stack up at all, and its unlikely to be in use this year anywhere.

Australia has reached 70.01% fully vaccinated for 16+ and SA has reached 60.01% for the same age group.

TAS at 69.95% and VIC at 69.28% should reach 70% when today's numbers are released tomorrow. NT should reach 60% when today's numbers are released tomorrow.

VIC is just 2 or 3 days of numbers away from reaching 90% first dose, which is a major milestone as well.

ACT is absolutely smashing it, I do wonder what happened with the 20-24 year olds though? They are being put to shame by the 12-15s.

Kids are always easy because, well parents who care about them. The VIC 12-15 vax rate is fantastic as well and rapidly growing. When 5-12 opens it can probably be done and dusted in a couple of weeks.

Desperate times to try and drive vaccination rate up… better very late than never I suppose! The deadline should really be end of Nov not Dec though, seriously, how much slower can they go..

WA dictates sweeping vaccine mandate covering 75 per cent of workforce to drive stalled vaccination program​

The COVID-19 vaccine has been mandated for 75 per cent of the West Australian workforce by the end of the year.

Premier Mark McGowan has announced getting the vaccine will be mandatory for a swathe of occupations, including workers at supermarkets, pubs, restaurants, post offices and hardware stores.

Child care and school workers, including teachers, must also have their first vaccination by December 31.

The mandate even extends to petrol stations, roadhouses and funeral directors.

It comes after the state government already made the jab mandatory for police, health workers and mining workers.

Those occupations, where the government said there was a high risk of virus transmission and vulnerability, must have had both vaccine doses by December 31.

Well ABC reports a bunch of the occupations have until the end of January, and have also pointed out the gaps i.e. beauty therapists and hairdressers are not mentioned yet supermarket workers are. So a pet worker has to be fully vaccinated but not someone who touched you like a beauty therapist!

First dose by the end of December is ridiculous. Everyone over 18 has had more than enough time to get fully vaccinated already and can only blame themselves if they aren't vaccinated by now. Anyone 12-17 can only blame themselves if they haven't had their first dose by now or pretty soon.

Agree, it’s unbelievably slow… which leads me (and other media commentators now) to pose the question that WA Health is still massively behind the 8 ball in their logistics to support any kind of rollout at a decent pace….

There is definitely something fishy going on, it’s slow and it stinks….

As expected, VIC, TAS and the national average have all gone past 70% for fully vaccinated for 16+ after yesterday’s vaccinations. VIC has reached 70.51% and the nation 70.83%.

Yes that part is good news for Victoria.

However unfortunately most of the LGA's driving the case numbers probably will not hit 70% second dose till about Friday next week.

Though in better news most of those same LGA's should be at 95% or above for the first dose by next Friday. So while compared to the rest of Greater Melbourne on average they are still significantly behind on second doses, they will be well in front on first doses. Their rate of getting both first and second doses are also both significantly higher on average than the rest of Greater Melbourne due to mainly the continued state hub/pop- up focus in those LGA's.
