Yes vaccinating 12-15 had zero effect on restrictions lifting in NSW as the were tied to 16+ vaccination levels only.

NSW and VIC are almost double the other states. I suspect because they were desperate to get out of lockdown.

12-15 are not counted towards the 70/70 or 80/80 lockdown relaxation settings.

If anything 12-15 olds being opened up slowed down the 70/70 and 80/80 targets being reached.


However the more of the population vaccinated the better things will be for all.

In VIC the next stage after 80% for 16+ is 90% for 12+.

At 90% restrictions on the vaccinated are limited to high risk settings and major events e.g. Boxing Day at the MCG.

Well while Vic is going to the 80/80 settings at 6PM Friday regardless, they as of yesterday still required 222,780 second doses over Tuesday (today) till 6pm Friday to actually meet the target.

61,248 second doses happened yesterday. So if that pace was maintained over T-F that would be 244,992 doses and so it would reach the 80% second dose target during Friday. That is the state average, which is what the settings are based on. Greater Melbourne would be less.

They are not. VIC is 78.53% and NSW 78.27%. The day before VIC was at 77.8% and NSW was at 77.97%. So based on that one day change (I think the trend has been going longer than that as I recall NSW was way in front) VIC is now giving first doses to 12-15 year-olds at a faster rate than NSW and if that trend continues VIC will reach 80% first dose for 12-15 before NSW. However NSW is ahead on second doses with 53.03% to VIC 41.41%.

VIC is vaccinating at a faster rate for 16+ too, but that's to be expected with NSW now at extremely high vaccination levels. NSW jumped from 93.06% to 93.18% first dose versus VIC going from 90.56% to 90.84% for first doses. For second doses NSW went from 84.98% to 85.47%. VIC went from 74.74% to 75.88%.

This is awesome news and hopefully bookings will open online, I will want mine in January and if every 6 months stays the regime again in July before flying overseas in August.

As a double Pfizer recipient I'd been hoping for Moderna.

Pfizer now approved as a booster for all aged over 18 starting at 6 months.

SV and PZ have been compared, and it appears SV is coming out ahead.
For me AZ and SV is top of the table and PZ third for longevity of effect.

Don't forget that even though SV is also an mRNA vax, it has 3x the mRNA content than PZ.
PZ doses were reduced early on in development because the reduction in mRNA content still provided excellent (initial) seroconversion and allowed the company to sell more doses.
It is impossible to know whether that difference is significant.
There are no studies that I am aware of that looks at comparing equal dosing of PZ and SV

Mix and Match has been tried in Spain, Canada with some studies suggesting M&M is better than x2 of the same in an M&M of 2 doses.
it was not officially called M&M rather P&B: "Prime and Boost"
Immunologically makes sense and entirely predictable.

Currently as a 3rd jab, I'm leaning toward SV rather than AZ because there is potential for an immune response against the adenovirus carrier in AZ after repeated doses which might destroy the virus carrier before it has a chance to get into the cells

Ultimately we should be looking at CovidVax specifically designed for the Delta variant for a booster.

covidlive is showing VIC should reach 80% fully vaccinated when Friday's numbers are released on Saturday and they estimate 3 weeks later for 90% fully vaccinated for 16+ on 20 November (4 weeks after we reached 90% first dose) and 90% fully vaccinated for 12+ on 23 November (4 weeks after 90% first dose for 12+). These estimates are assuming that everyone getting their first dose now is getting Pfizer or Moderna at this point and nearly everyone getting their second dose at most 4 weeks after the first. Still it indicates that 90% for 12+ is likely to be reached next month in VIC.

In Victoria 55,237 second doses on Tuesday (yesterday). So dose rate down.

That leaves about 167,543 to reach 80% second dose on Friday., or 55,847 per day for Weds, Thurs and Friday.

However even if not at the target it will be very close as a state average to be at 80% second dose.

Yes the younger cohorts from 16 -39 in Vic have increased markedly over the last week, and particularly for second doses.

All up 11-13.5% for second doses.

The 12-15 cohort was up 17% for second doses over the last week (Today's report was 43.55%) .

With these age cohorts dominating in new daily cases, if this rate stays high for another week/fortnight this should really start to reduce new cases in these cohorts.
