The COVID-19 vaccine rollout in Australia has begun

Heh I heard a lot of hospitals were like that. Our vaccine clinics were literally barricaded off with security!

Which was a pity because that was the route I take to my coffee joint.

Just frustrating because I was nagging constantly to make sure our 1as were all processed quickly (the staff who actually handle all the covid swabs and do the testing) because I KNEW they would be left out ...... and yet they managed to forget everyone else still.

A man in Brisbane has been rushed to hospital with blood clots just days after receiving the Pfizer vaccine.

The 40-year-old man received the Pfizer shot on Sunday, 9 News reported.

He is the fourth person in Australia to develop blood clots following a COVID-19 vaccine, however the other three people received the AstraZeneca vaccine.

Still in 1b so maybe significant other health issues?

Possibly. 1b could also be healthy people in important health roles that are not important enough in fighting the pandemic to make 1a

Yes lots of healthy people in 1b including say:

Household contacts of quarantine and border workers, meat processing workers, emergency volunteers, people who work in hospitals but who are not frontline workers etc

I wonder what the total number of people vaccinated with Pfizer to date in Australia is?

I would hope 1b has healthy people given the group includes, but not limited to:
  • Emergency services personnel, including frontline police officers, fire and rescue personnel, corrective services officers
  • Rural Fire Service and State Emergency Service volunteers
  • Active Australian Defence Force personnel

Victoria has announced they are putting $50 million towards an mRNA vaccine manufacturing facility. Will take 12 months to get going, so possibly not relevant for the current rollout, but useful for the future

One fairly large problem is that as yet no major pharma or vaccine maker on board.
And of course both Pfizer and Moderna vaccines also now have the same blood clot problem. And in under 50s as well.

One big plus in that Monash and the Doherty institute were working on an mRNA vaccine.

And they are up there with the best in research into mRNA research.

Another possible problem - Anastacia.

SA is still not announcing their daily vaccination rate. Yesterday was down to 1200. Going backwards.

Vic government is probably looking to ensure that a mRNA facility will be in Vic rather than elsewhere to the country.

Sutton at 52 and a 1a gets the AZ vaccination today. So hardly queue jumping, but timely given the push for people to have the AZ, and with the 3 new hubs all in full operation as of today.

Good luck to all who decide to get vaccinated, I will pass and let others have mine.
Cheers

1A? Does he work directly in front line Hospital work?
Of course not.
Yet a 74 year old doctor who assesses all medical admissions coming through ED including those with respiratory symptoms is only 1b even though they qualify for that on age.

Again, with the number of people vaccinated with Pfizer it is unfortunate, but not surprising.

We all know Pfizer can cause clots. And AZ.

Some people clearly thought Pfizer was somehow the holy grail, it is not either. None of them are, none of them ever will be.

But I like the analogy above, you are more likely to get a clot from flying long haul - now that should resonate with some AFF members :)

So why was it posted he was in 1A?
