There are still massive logistical challenges getting AZ to the right places where people want to get vaccinated, thousands of GP clinics are still operating at minimal capacity because they don’t have enough AZ - still. It’s just madness this is still occurring
That is a different issue, we have more than adequate supplies of AZ in country we make it here, Pfizer is only being delivered in small volumes with over 50% of our order not due to arrive until October onwards.
Many GPRCs are srill swimming in unused doses, it is still super easy to get a same day appointment at a GPRC. If your regular GP doesnt have doses, show some initiative and go online and find the neareast GPRC or state hub. You love to talk about vaccine snobs, well im seeing GP snobs which is unecessary, mainly due to confusing communication, people hear GP they think of needing to go to local doctors office, not an RC run by GPs.
Distribution (not supply) to all these small GP practices is inefficient (the problem, not supply) which is why its not working in some places and why mass vac should have been planned as primary mechanism from the start, it has worked brilliantly overseas and for testing.
So many easier options logistically that can better hit large numbers of people than using small GP practices. If the plan was better from start, and local locations better promoted from the start more of the doses we have would be in arms already.
For Pfizer the hubs are not short of takers, if Pfizer supplies start going to GPs and Pharmacies we are going to see the same distribution issues and more wastage. Just add more hubs and a.so pop up hubs as supply increases so there is consistency in where to go and efficiency in operations.
