Many relatives I know over 50 holding off getting vaccines. It's really frustrating but what can you do. To each their own? My Mum was a bit hesitant but I have gotten through to her - once she is back in Perth she will go for her AZ vaccination.

not the only one - Mr FM was out at Queanbeyan talking to some people about getting a gate made and the lady he was talking to very rapidly told him she was vaccinated and was he planning to? Once they compared dates he had actually beaten her to it. I find talking to people allows them to ask questions - often they are not against vaccinations but just hesitant and are reassured talking to a “real” person and getting answers.

Covid live has described how they calculate the second doses for each jurisdiction in the National breakdown.

When I get home later I will post their method.

And they use scraping tools as part of the process and so ABC may not have the inhouse expertise to do so.

Apparently Calvary which is doing ACT’s AZ vaccination is booked out for 4 weeks. They are thinking of running at weekends. (!).

however I just checked the respiratory centre and it is quite amusing.

Yes I think some just keep forgetting about the GP RC's. From the footage clearly some at the Hubs are getting AZ. Rather than stand for hours they could book a slot an GP RC where you just arrive at your time, get vaccinated and be on your way all with minimum delay and queuing.

If supply was increased to the GP Practices you could also have AZ delivered with minimal wait times. Ditto when they eventually allow GP's to get Pfizer Doses.

Honestly, who gives a rats behind what the second dose data is? It's pretty irrelevant in the context of our vaccine rollout. People have not been going to get vaccinated because the media has been scaring them away with hysterical headlines. Simple as that.

It’s still a supply issue. Which you said there was not.... There certainly is and I have to deal with it almost every day in our business. It’s not in the right place.

Personally I would describe this as a logistic issue rather than supply. The supply is there, just in the wrong places!

Sure but the media does what the media does, do you really think that there are not hysterical headlines in other countries, we aren't the only ones who have had blood clotting and other scares? That's where the government needs to step up to convince people to take the vaccine.

Plenty of examples of other countries who have done this well we could get some ideas from.

Victoria's test rate yesterday was a Vicorian record, but not an Australian record. The real record is 69,809 tests on 24th Dec (reported on 25th Dec) during NB outbreak (with just over 60k on the presceding day also).

So they are using WA state ratios for everyone, even though some other states publish their actual dose numbers. Im not convinced WA is necessarily representative of the rates in other states. Id prefer they clearly call out it is an assumed rate.

Everyone should, because being fully vaccinated is the key to saying bye bye to stupid state lockdowns and internal borders. We need to know that people are getting their second shot (its been a problem overseas with many not bothering to get the second dose). The feds should be publishing this data and also the split between vaccine types so we know where progress and dosage utilisation is really at.

I still think it’s going to get even better from mid June as second AZ jabs start happening. But then as I have said before I am an optimist.

We need another outbreak somewhere else to keep the scare factor going. Was talking to a neighbour when out dog walking this morning and as usual said “have you been vaccinated”. She said she had an appointment with her GP for late June, but after Melbourne happened she changed to the ACT clinic for next week. Fear works.

I think we will be lucky to leave the country mid next year. I'm booking leaving 1/7/22 when QFF bookings open, hoping pollies mean literally first day after mid 2022 (1/7/2022). Will book QFF so if I can't travel will be able to press back.

Well that could be running out of supplies for the day. Also sites tend to not take walk-ins all the way to closing time, but have an earlier cut-off for walk-ins.

That's fine but advertising on social media 45 minutes beforehand saying they'll be open until 6 and turning people away at 4 is not going to make anyone happy
