Probably the wait times are so horrendous they just decided to turn off incoming calls altogether...

Some strange events have taken place with me recently. The qantas website when searching flights, I've noticed the format of multi-city search page flip back and forth. Anyone else experience something like what I'm talking about?

I am wondering what triggers the traditional birthday emails with the $30 Qantas Hotel voucher.

The youngest Cygnet turns 19 this month. Last January he did not receive a birthday email and so far this month he hasn't either. He currently has zero QF points as he transferred his to his brother in October. He is wanting to make a Qantas hotel booking for 1 night and I rather expectantly told him to wait for his $30 voucher. The oldest Cygnet received these emails from his 18th birthday month (May) onwards. My wife and I always receive ours (of course we are unfortunately well over 18).

Presumably an IT setting somewhere? Or are his zero points counting against him?

Not surprisingly I did not get the birthday email.
But within 10 minutes of mrsdrron telling me yesterday she was never buying another Dyson I received an email about a sale on a Dyson in the QFF shop.

The Qantas Frequent Flyer chat window that keeps on popping up outside of their operating hours is really starting to grind my gears. You click on it, it says they're closed, so you close it off and it just keeps on popping back up.

Especially when it never actually pops up during their operating hours when you need it.

Internet wasnt working at the office last Friday, so I booked a Qantas hotel via the app on my tablet instead of via website. I got email an confirmation and the booking shows up in the app on tablet and phone. But if I log into the FF website, the booking does not exist there.

Rang Qantas hotels (answered stright away clearly different queue to the FF Centre) who confirmed that my booking exists, then they told me they knew the web site was broken and not displaying bookings. No ETA on a fix though.

As usual, having booked a HBA (home port) -MEL - BNE and next day BNE-SYD flights, Qantas offers me hotel options in Hobart.

Its not just that its dumb, its that its been like it for years and either no-one has noticed, or no-one gives a stuff to fix it!

We all notice this, along with the car rental ads. Dumb and dumber. Easier for them to ignore than fix. Makes them look third world though.

I have this number on my phone and if I have a query I send a text. Eventually someone replies. Currently I’m keeping a log of a flight that was cancelled at end of last year and nothing has come through yet, and I have three different dates given for cancellation so far.

Was logged out of qantas account when I made a booking yesterday, on the website. Why? What if I wanted more flights?

Back in October, when QF's status and points calculator was playing up, I asked them to fill in the blanks for my upcoming DONE4, hoping I would earn enough to scrape back in to WP.

A few back and forwards until early November without ever getting a final total, so I gave up.

Received an email today giving me the final figure and apologising for the delay.

Is this some kind of record?

PS Yes, I should just make it.

A DONE4 and you were concerned about getting enough SCs to 'scrape back in to WP'?o_O Now, I don't know whether you mean retain or attain WP, but IME a DONE4 should do either quite comfortably if you use all 16 sectors.

I do a DONEx (where x is usually 4, but sometimes 5) every year and come in at around 1600+ SCs each time. Comfy for WP retain, and even attain.

Now that is is possible to do a DONEx from Australia without having to ticket through QF, I have reached the point where I'll forgo the extra SCs and points on QF flights for the greater comfort and service of QR and the like - yet still achieve the 1200 SC retain level (let alone saving about $1-1.5K on the cost :)).

For the first time, this year's DONE4 will not have a single QF metal sector in it - only one QF codeshare HKG-PER on CX.

Not all trips that we poor amateurs make are aimed at maximising SC's. I am fully aware that a DONEx can easily make the WP level but there are often some limitations that us mortals must endure.

Fair enough. But I don't do it to solely to maximise SCs. My first priority is to use the DONEx to go where I want to go. The SCs flow from that - but I do make sure to use all 16 sectors.

Trying to link a complimentary lounge pass to my Mum's Jetstar booking for travel tomorrow.

Getting an error:

Something went wrong!
Please try again later.

Digging a bit further, when I check the web inspector to try figure out what is happening I can see the endpoint requested to link Jetstar bookings is currently returning a 404 error.

Clown town!
