The definitive thread on Qantas IT gripes

Even in Australia - domestic flight SYD-HBA. Got a message via the app that check-in was open at abt T-24 (I think). Went to check-in via the app - nah, can't do that. have to check-in at the airport.

Tried 30 mins later, and it graciously allowed me to check-in.

Now, telling me my points activity is too hard for the app.

I see an F seat SYD-DFW out to the max bkg period and select it and then it says there's no seat available. Is this a know issue now w' QF?

Are they considering letting you go fwd a day / week? Is anything helpful happening at QF on line bkgs?

First off who made your booking?
An agent or direct through the Qantas website?

An agent, but not sure why that matters?

I'm not phased either way as I know my baggage allowance but find it amusing how when then change items on the website (baggaged used to be shown in MMB but now a separate page), things that would seem somewhat simple aren't.

It has everything to do with your agent.
The baggage allowance from the website comes directly from your ticket, each ticket has a separate allowance attached to it and if it is coming up as 0 bags, then the agent has stuffed something up it seems.

Doesn't matter anyway.

This is what a ticket looks like:

Not a gripe, as I don't care. So just website stuipidity.
Have a business booking with multiple people on it (award LA to Australia). It has a warning about checking the luggage allowances. in hoping to get rid of this warning flag I go and check the allowance to find I'm allowed 4x 70 lb checked luggage and everyone else on the booking is allowed 3 x 0 lb checked luggage. With a prompt to pre-buy checked luggage.

Seriously, unfair what if they want to check in 10 x 0 lb bags???

Booked EK F HKG-DXB-AMS recently online but phone agent said she couldn't see availability. Then once I booked online I had to give her the reference to tack on some extra BA sectors into the UK. Phone agent couldn't explain the discrepancy and simply said that the IT system is reliable. That booking was after constant phantom availability looking for EK F for various HKG-DXB-EU ports that kept erroring out at the last page.

Technically, it says they're allowed 3 bags, but 0 weight. This is exactly the same as my booking, made directly with Qantas flying on Qantas metal and in business class. 3x 0 kg. Bronze status. as Platinum I at least get 4x 32 kg.

So disturbingly I'm booked on a flight to nowhere.

Actually this should be to Bendigo (BXG). But ever since they started taking bookings in December, the My Bookings page has displayed null for all bookings with Bendigo in them. I did report it to their Social Media team who "forwarded it on" but to this day it still doesn't display Bendigo correctly.

My gripe is that in a multi city booking you cannot always a point of origin even though it appears as a point of arrival.
For example you can easily book, say, SYD-BNE-HIR but when you try the reverse, HIR-BNE-SYD you get an error message "We can't find a matching location".
I understand there could be some sort of ticketing issue here, but surely its easy to solve (VA seem to have no problem), otherwise what is the point of having a codeshare flight from that point of origin.

My gripe is the the huge number of airports that are bookable on points or $$ on partner airlines that the search engine says don't exist.

In particular the smaller airports around the US.

One example only - Try booking a flight to Rapid city in South Dakota from anywhere. "Qantas says it doesn't exist".

Even switching to the US version of the Qantas site doesn't help.

Several flights a day on AA from Dallas.

Shows up without a problem in other one world sites such as BA etc.

The only way to book is to ring up and complain and demand you not be charged the booking fee.

My gripe, which actually cost QF business in this instance, is that I was trying to fly QF PER-LHR-SIN-PER in PE a couple months ago. Acknowledge that there is only Y from SIN-PER but not uncommon to book PE fares to Europe and have some legs in Y (eg SQ, BA etc). Anyway QF system and also travel agent could not make it work in PE. It works in Y and J but not PE, unless priced at astronomic single legs. So ended up booking BA PER-SIN-LHR-SIN-PER in PE instead flying BA metal except for the PER-SIN-PER legs. Simple stuff really that other airlines seem to have figured out....but not QF.....

Getting this error after I login into QFF account and go to look at my Points Activity.

Then tried it in Incognito browser and it worked. I went back to th original browser and deleted all of the Qantas cookies that were stored in the browser. Works.

Not really a qantas issue I guess.
