Cool - am off there now - leaving Bris shortly - will take a look. Is the domestic lounge the same as the int'l lounge?

The extension is a decent size and will help with crowding.

It's felt a long construction but good work VA for getting it open as a nice Christmas present to us

The new section of the Mel lounge is now open!

When I got into the lounge at about 12:45, there were still hoardings up. Sat down over a bit of work with a drink, not long after an announcement came up to the effect of "Ladies and gentlemen, our expanded lounge is now open and thank you for choosing Virgin Australia". I looked around and the hoardings were gone and a much larger space opened including a bar. Would have walked around and had a good look but my flight was called.

Am looking forward to my visit tomorrow (and in Feb when the wine bar opens, much more my speed than an espresso bar).

Any pics of where the new private security exit is or how it fits into the gates?

Looking very nice :) Be keen to check it out when I do my SC Run later in the year...

Perhaps a title change to the topic is in order??

I suspect there will be an escalator/stairs/lift down.

See this thread: http://www.australianfrequentflyer....ocity/mel-premium-entry-56157.html#post948626

The private security point should be more or less flat from the lounge entry level. Looking from the entrance doors it should be in the far right corner. When i was there a couple of weeks ago i could see the works taking place on the other side of the security point between the screening place and the explosives test.

The escalator/ lift would be involved for the kerbside checkin to have direct entry to the lounge but not to get to the screening point.

I'll be in the lounge on Tuesday so keen to check it out.

When does the kerbside check in open? Actually getting dropped off at the airport this time!
